American Legion- Colville WA Frank Starr Post #47 Each of these programs has information at this site to inform the public an Established in 1928, the Post continues to serve the surrounding community.

The Colville Washington based Frank Starr American Legion Post #47 Family consists of four main Programs: The Post, Legion Riders, Sons of the American Legion, and Post Auxiliary. The American Legion was founded March 15-17, 1919, by members of the American Expeditionary Forces still stationed in Europe awaiting passage home from World War I. Their experiences in what was called the “war to end al

l wars” would shape an enduring agenda for what became the nation’s largest organization of veterans. This Post is dedicated to Colville resident Frank Starr, a medic in WW1, who was killed in action 12 days prior to Armistice Day, and is buried in France. The current location of Post 47 was donated by the Diffenbacher family on 24 June 1934. The building was erected in 1934 and is on the City of Colville Local Registry.

Mike Humble spoke at the Colville Piecemakers meeting in Arden today. The quilters who make up the Colville Piecemakers donated quilts for the Legion to distribute to Veterans in hospice and palliative care.

Currently when Legion members visit with the veterans they gift them a throw blanket. Thanks to the Colville Piecemakers community service committee, Legion members will now be able to offer veterans a locally, made with love quilt.

Pictured are some Colville Piecemakers members who made the donated quilts.

You may be able to tell by the filer that this will NOT be the most traditional Oktoberfest, but it should be a lot of fun. We will even have das (cowboy) boot souvenir mugs available for purchase.
