Roy’s Story of Hope and Purpose
Roy came to Freedom House, Safe House Ministries’ men’s shelter, from humble beginnings. At a time when he was living on the streets and struggling with addiction to drugs and alcohol, Roy found himself in what felt like a hopeless place.
His journey began to change when he found his way to Freedom House. There, Roy found more than a roof over his head. He found people who showed him love, walked alongside him, and supported him as he worked toward recovery and a new way of life.
Today, Roy has obtained housing of his own and is filled with a gratitude for life that he says he has never experienced before. He is deeply thankful for everyone at Freedom House who played a part in his journey. Each person he encountered along the way holds a special place in his heart.
Most importantly, Roy gives God the glory for bringing him through his journey. He recognizes that his transformation could not have happened without his faith and the people God placed in his path.
Roy says that Freedom House and Safe House Ministries helped save his life. Reflecting on his experience, he shared:

Roy’s story is a powerful reminder of what can happen when someone who feels hopeless is met with compassion, support, faith, and an opportunity for a fresh start. Today, Roy is not only housed—he has hope, he has purpose, and he is learning to live again.
