Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is the largest group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music.

We’re a non-profit cultural movement with hundreds of local branches around the world, and as you can read in our history we’ve been working for the cause of Irish music since the middle of the last century (1951 to be precise). Our efforts continue with increasing zeal as the movement moves itself into the 21st century. WHAT WE DO

Because we’re so many different things to different people, it ca

n be hard to keep track of the true scope of our activities! You might have been involved with a Comhaltas event and not even known it. If you’re interested in learning the music, you might want to find which one of our weekly sessions that is closest to you. This is a good way to become familiar with how a session works. We can guide you to members who can provide lessons. For musicians who like to play socially, you might be interested in finding our local Comhaltas music session. It takes place at Otie's Pub in Old Hilliard. We also support touring groups from Ireland. In the fall, we will be sponsoring the annual "Echos of Erin" North American Tour of Irish Music and Dance. We also participate in the definitive system of competitions for Irish music, called the “Fleadh Cheoil”, pronounced "flah-key-ohl", (literally “feast of music”). Musicians compete in a series of qualifying rounds, culminating in the annual All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. A sampling of tunes we play can be found on this page and at our website, should you decide to join us in our acoustic instrument session.

Star of Munster Ceili Band (well, part of us) playing at the Emerald Society Fish Fry at the Shamrock Club. Tune is Cliffs of Moher. Fab time had by all!

Our ceili band, Star of Munster, played for Judge Michael Mentel's fundraiser at Dempsey's Food & Spirits. What a wonderful event for a wonderful guy!
