Asian American Coalition of Ohio

Asian American Coalition of Ohio A grassroots, nonprofit organization working to educate, engage, and empower AAPI Americans. The event was organized by a core committee of 7 people.

AACO & OCAA

Asian American Coalition of Ohio and Ohio Chinese American Association was founded in March, 2016 as a Non-Profit Organization in Ohio. The motivation of establishing AACO and OCAA originated from the 2.20 rally to support former NYPD officer Peter Liang. As a follow-up of the 2.20 rally, in lieu of preparing for the Ohio presidential primaries, we hosted a “Asian (Chinese) American C

ommunity and American Politics” forum in Dublin Ohio, with the aim of raising awareness of civil rights among Asian Americans, and encouraging them to go out to exercise their rights of voting for the presidential election. In the past couple of years, we have witnessed an increase in the number of incidents relating to civil right violations of Asian Americans including Ms. Sherry (Xiafen) Chen, Dr. Xiaoxing Xi and Officer Peter Liang, among many others. All these incidents further all pointed to us that 2016 will be a critical year for Asian American civil rights. We believe it is urgent and necessary to call for more active participation on Asian Americans in civil and political matters in the American society. To protect the civil rights of ourselves and our next generation and generations to come, we have to tie up, speak up and stand up. We also need to reach out to both Asian Americans and non-Asian Americans who are in support of what we believe and what we do. It is a long journey but the first step has to begin today. We need your support. Mission

To unite all Asian Americans in Ohio, raise their awareness of American civil rights and promote active participation in American society. Vision

To lead Ohio Asian Americans in achieving equality in all aspects of American society.

The Asian American Coalition of Ohio is proud to congratulate and thank our Youth Program Chair, Dr. Hong Qiu, as she concludes five years of service on the City of Dublin's Community Services Advisory Commission.

During her tenure, Dr. Qiu helped shape policies and recommendations on sustainability, public safety, parks and recreation, and other long-term initiatives, including the Parks & Recreation Master Plan. Her commitment to public service reflects AACO's belief that civic engagement is one of the best ways to strengthen our communities.

We hope Dr. Qiu's example inspires more members of the Asian American community to serve on local boards and commissions—or even run for public office. By stepping forward and sharing our perspectives, we help build stronger communities while elevating the image and voice of Asian Americans across Ohio.

Thank you, Dr. Qiu, for your leadership and service to the City of Dublin and our community!
