Summer Camp Chronicles – Day 4

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, Troop 6 was up and moving this morning with one mission: Merit Badges Here We Come!
The Scouts charged into the day ready to learn, earn, eat and add a few more patches to the sash (really just eat allot.....lol). Despite a full schedule, enthusiasm remains high and the troop is making the most of every opportunity camp has to offer.

The official Camp Weather Rock once again predicted rain, which was immediately challenged by Andrew and Beck. Convinced the larger weather rock had lost credibility, they seek reassurance from the smaller weather rock nearby. Results remain inconclusive, although both rocks eventually agreed that getting wet was likely.

Stay tuned. Troop 6 remains motivated, mostly organized, and fully committed to proving that no amount of rain can stop Scouts in pursuit of merit badges, snacks, and adventure.

Summer Camp Chronicles – Day 3

Merit badge progress continues as the Scouts remain fully focused on earning badges, learning new skills, and occasionally remembering where they left their gear.
The morning started a little slower than normal, largely because last night's open swim was apparently mistaken for an Olympic qualifying event. Energy levels were low, but spirits remained high.
The official Camp Weather Rock forecast once again called for rain. Refusing to accept such pessimism, Andrew and Beck launched an independent weather program and constructed a smaller weather rock. According to Beck, the larger weather rock "might not be telling the truth," and a second opinion was needed.
Current forecasts:
Big Weather Rock: Rain.
Small Weather Rock: Maybe Rain.
Troop 6 Scouts: Swimming regardless.
As the week continues, merit badges are stacking up, the trading post economy remains strong, and the scientific debate between the National Weather Service and Andrew & Beck's weather rock is far from settled.

Summer Camp Chronicles – Day 2

The path to the Troop 6 campsite was clearly marked this morning thanks to a carefully placed trail of Troop 6-labeled water bottles and headlamps scattered across camp. Future archaeologists will have no trouble finding us.
With teeth brushed (mostly), this group was up at 0600 and ready to tackle the day. According to the highly accurate Camp Weather Rock forecast, conditions called for Heat... Rain... followed by More Rain... with a chance of Additional Rain.
Meanwhile, ASM Jamal successfully sniffed out coffee from several hundred meters away like a blue tick hound on a fresh trail. His discovery undoubtedly saved at least one young Scout from becoming a cautionary tale before breakfast.
Merit badges are underway, friendships are growing, gear accountability remains questionable, and the trading post continues to whisper sweet promises of slushies, snacks, and financial regret into the ears of teenage boys.
Stay tuned. Troop 6 remains fully operational, mildly hydrated, and approximately one thunderstorm away from discovering whether wet socks can be classified as a biohazard...

Summer Camp Chronicles – Day 1

Less than 48 hours after returning from Sea Base, Troop 6 is back on the road like a traveling circus with merit badges.

Highlights so far:
Our Scout navigator fell asleep, thanks Andrew L..
Everyone ate their lunch before we were even out of Columbus.
No water bottles have been lost... yet. (A new troop record may be in the making.)
The Slurpee machine spotted the troop and immediately knew it was in trouble.
Swim checks are complete, proving that a week at Sea Base didn't completely break them.
The Scouts are proudly displaying their Sea Base tan lines while the adults continue their ongoing search for "time off," a mythical creature believed to exist somewhere outside the Scouting program.
Summer Camp 2026 is officially underway. Stay tuned for more adventures, poor financial decisions at the trading post, and evidence that teenage boys can consume their body weight in snacks before dinner.

Mama Im coming home...Scout Edition

After days of sailing, snorkeling, fishing, questionable sleep schedules, and enough saltwater to last a lifetime, the Sea Base crew is pointing the bow toward home.
The Scouts are returning to Troop 6 with new skills, great memories, stronger friendships, and a few stories that may get slightly more heroic with each telling.
