Hi Glen Echo! Dreading the return of mosquito season? Buckets of Doom are surprisingly simple and pollinator-friendly way to knock down mosquito populations in your yard.

All you need is a bucket, water, a handful of dry grass, a stick, and a chunck of a Bti dunk (sold at hardware stores as Mosquito Dunks). The grass attracts mosquitoes looking for a place to lay eggs. The Bti dunk — a naturally occurring bacteria — kills every larva that hatches. No pupae, no adults. It is completely harmless to bees, fireflies, birds, pets, and people.

Place it in a shaded spot away from where you sit. Fill it only halfway. Add the stick so small critters can climb out if they fall in. Replace the dunk once a month.

The Glen Echo Bird Tunnel mural is covered by graffiti and we need your help to revive and reimagine this iconic mural!
Join us Sunday, May 17th from 10 AM to 12 PM for a community cleanup and “painting party” in Glen Echo Park. Together, we’ll begin to cover the existing graffiti and mural (with an assist from the city for what we don’t finish), and clean the ravine in partnership with FLOW, and, most importantly, gather your ideas and input for the next mural installation.

The Glen Echo Bird Tunnel is located beneath the historic Indianola Bridge in Glen Echo Park, has been an iconic feature of the University District for many years.

Unfortunately, due to repeated vandalism, the City has determined that the current mural cannot be restored. A dedicated working group — including passionate residents, University District Organization, Friends of the Ravines, Friends of Glen Echo, University Community Association, FLOW, Keep Columbus Beautiful, Columbus City Council, City departments, and the Greater Columbus Arts Council — has committed to bringing a new public art installation to life in 2027.

But before the phoenix can rise from the ashes, we need your help.

See you on Sunday, May 17th, from 10 AM to 12 PM for a special Clean the Ravine!

Come help shape what comes next!

ICYMI: Thanks to an incredible group of volunteers who showed up in March: the invasive honeysuckle, Rose of Sharon, and burning bush that had taken over the Glenmawr median are gone! We'll be wrapping up a few final touches in the coming weeks before turning our attention to the next big milestone: trees and the pollinator garden. Stay tuned, and sign up for our newsletter, to hear more about volunteer dates! https://www.friendsofglenecho.org/get-involved
