PORTAGE COUNTY ACTION ALERT 🚨 The Portage County Commissioners are considering a ban on large wind and solar projects across multiple townships. They are holding a public meeting this Thursday,March 26 at 6:30 P.M. at the Emergency Management Agency headquarters (2978 State Route 59, Ravenna). It is crucial to show up. A Richland County nurse with 40 years of experience is urging voters to say NO on May 5. Clean energy = cleaner air for the 12,500 Richland County residents who have asthma.

To the editor: On May 5, 2026, Richland County Voters will have the opportunity to vote whether to overturn the County Commissioners ban on utility-scale wind and solar development in 11 of 18 townships.  This is a citizen-led campaign to restore local control over energy development decisions. It's official: Ballot language is certified for Richland County's May 5 referendum on the solar/wind ban. "We're banning these projects, we're banning development in Richland County. There's no reason to do that now." - Brian McPeek, IBEW 688 Business Manager.

The Akron Beacon Journal editorial board says it plainly: Big Tech gets the tax breaks. You get the higher electric bill. Data centers are projected to create just 0.5% of Ohio's statewide employment by 2030. Meanwhile, the tax subsidies work out to roughly $1 MILLION per job created.

These data centers provide economic benefit, but are they worth the cost?

Should the government tell you what you can and can't do with your own land? That's what's at stake on May 5 in Richland County. County commissioners imposed a blanket ban on large-scale solar and wind projects across 11 townships -- before any projects were even proposed. A NO vote overturns the ban and puts property decisions back where they belong: with property owners. https://www.nobanonpropertyrights.com/news/ballot-language-approved
