What started as a conversation with her Community School Coordinator, Mr. Jarvis, at Brewer Early Innovation Academy turned into a bold step toward new dreams and new opportunities! 💙

We’re so proud of you, Ayonia! 🎉 Congratulations on taking that next step toward your goals!

A huge thank you to BETTER WORK Columbus for partnering with Community Schools United to walk alongside our families and help connect them to opportunities that can strengthen their futures. 🤝🏽

💼 Looking for a job? Want to increase your income? Ready to take your next step? Your Community Schools Coordinator is here to help connect you with resources and opportunities!

📚💙 Reach out to your Community Schools Coordinator today and let’s take the next step together! United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley

For a while, Ayonia Shipp couldn’t see the future she once imagined for herself.
She had worked hard, earned her degree, built a career, and dreamed of one day owning a trucking company. But after losing her job and facing setback after setback, it became harder to believe that the future she wanted was still possible.

Then she found BETTER WORK.

What she discovered wasn’t just a path toward employment. She met a community that helped her recognize the strengths she had started to lose sight of and the confidence to keep moving forward.

“I now know what I am capable of.”

Today, Ayonia is working, setting new goals, raising her daughter Dior, and continuing to pursue the future she once thought was out of reach.

Her story is a reminder that sometimes, people don’t need someone to tell them what they’re capable of. They need a community willing to walk alongside them until they can see it for themselves again.

Community Schools United hosted our second Lil Lit Learners event of the year at Dorothy I. Height Elementary School, where our wonderful volunteer, Mr. Josh, shared an introduction-to-fall story with our students. 🍁

After the story, our little learners got creative crafting their own fall-themed bookmarks to take home, because every good bookmark marks the spot for the next great adventure! 🍂🔖

Here’s to a season filled with cozy stories, creative moments, and plenty of reasons to fall in love with reading! ❤️📚

Talk about a growing partnership! 🌱💚

Our Servant Leadership Seniors from Columbus State University joined Ms. Griffin’s Pre-K class at Dorothy I. Height Elementary School this week to get their hands dirty and plant some veggies! 🥕🥬

We’re pretty sure these little gardeners are going to be rooting for their veggies to grow! 😉

Shout out to Ms. Egypt, PCES, Community School Coordinator, for her efforts in strengthening our partnership with East Alabama Chamber of Commerce. Through her outreach and engagement with Chamber leadership, Phenix City Elementary School was selected for a special community service project held at Dave & Buster’s.

The project provided hygiene kits to support our students and families. Ms. Egypt represented both PCES and Community Schools United at the event, helping connect our school with additional resources and opportunities. We’re excited to see where these strengthened partnerships lead!

Community Schools United was honored to be chosen as one of Columbus State University’s service sites for their Annual Day of Service! 💙

The students gave the garden beds at Dorothy I. Height Elementary School a much-needed refresh, helping us get a strong start for all that’s to come this school year. 🌱 They also helped prep our sidewalks to welcome students with some Monday morning smiles! 😊

A huge thank you to everyone who donated their time, energy, and talents to pour back into our school community. We’re so grateful for partnerships that help us make our schools brighter! 💙

Our first Lil Lit Learners of the year at Dorothy I. Height Elementary School was a real page-turner! 📚✨

Our volunteer, Ms. Ashtynn with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, treated our students to a fun read celebrating the start of a new school year, followed by a creative book bag decorating activity that let our students put their own personal touch on their new reading gear! 🎒🎨

We’re already turning the page to a great year of reading! 📖💫
