Don’t get it confused, Ohio lawmakers passed this gas tax holiday at the request of Vivek Ramaswamy, Republican for governor. Dr. Amy Acton, Democrat for governor, was the first to propose a gas tax holiday, which was met quickly with agreement from Ramaswamy and statehouse Republicans.
While it’s great, if the Ohio Republican supermajority actually cared about the rising costs on Ohio families, they would have done so earlier and not because the Democratic opponent for governor said so first.
If the Ohio Republican supermajority actually cared about the rising costs on Ohio families, they would help decrease housing, energy, groceries and healthcare costs.
Instead, the Ohio Republican supermajority choose to enact this gas tax holiday in a desperate attempt to hold onto power. Power that they have had for 30 years.
