The American Society for Nondestructive Testing The American Society for Nondestructive Testing, Inc. (ASNT) is the world's largest technical society for nondestructive testing (NDT) professionals.

Through our organization and membership, we provide a forum for exchange of NDT technical information; NDT educational materials and programs; and standards and services for the qualification and certification of NDT personnel. ASNT promotes the discipline of NDT as a profession and facilitates NDT research and technology applications. Nondestructive testing (NDT) is the process of inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components or assemblies for discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. In other words, when the inspection or test is completed the part can still be used. ASNT Mission - ASNT exists to create a safer world by advancing scientific, engineering, and technical knowledge in the field of nondestructive testing.™

ASNT is a nonprofit corporation governed by a board of directors and national officers. The Society is organized into councils which govern issues related to 1) Technical and Education, 2) Research, 3) Section Operations, 4) Certification and 5) Engineering. These councils meet regularly to achieve the goals and objectives of the overall organization. Day to day operations and activities are managed by the ASNT International Service Center staff in Columbus, Ohio.

🏆 Congratulations to the winners of the Battle of the AI Agents at ASNT 2026!

After three days of building, testing, and refining custom artificial intelligence (AI) agents to tackle real-world nondestructive testing (NDT) challenges, our participants showcased their innovative solutions!

Mahammad Faizan Pinjari, Quality Manager at Eaton-Hercules Drawn Steel, and Dean Miller, NDT/NDI Test Engineer at Lockheed Martin, took home the top prize with DiscontinuityIQ, an AI-powered assistant designed to help NDT professionals look up acceptance criteria and evaluate discontinuities against applicable standards.

As the winning team, both received complimentary registration to ASNT 2027! 👏

Congratulations to our runners-up for their innovative projects:

🔹 Oleg Volf, CTO and Principal NDT Level 3 of AUToSCAN-AI, presented a time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) Data Analysis Assistant designed to detect reference lines, validate data quality, and classify indications.
🔹 Ali Gholami, PhD, NDT Engineer at Sperry Rail Inc., presented UT Study Coach, an adaptive study tool for ultrasonic testing (UT) Level I, II, and III candidates, featuring personalized practice questions, timed mock exams, and interactive physics simulations.

Both runners-up received an ASNT backpack!

One standard, three organizations!

Paul Lang, ASNT Chief Global Strategy Officer, and Tomáš Zavadil, Deputy Director at Advanced Technology Group (ATG), presented "ASNT 9712: One Standard, Three Organizations."

The session explored how ASNT, ATG, and the Japanese Society for Non-Destructive Inspection (JSNDI) share a common technical foundation through ISO 9712-based certification schemes.

The presentation highlighted how mutual recognition can help reduce duplicate examinations, create clearer international certification pathways, and support consistent recognition of nondestructive testing (NDT) personnel qualifications.
