An article in USA Today tells the story of Lewy Body Dementia’s caregivers. This comes in the context of the death of CNN’s founder, Ted Turner, after years of battling LBD. His death has not only brought much-needed attention to LBD as a whole, but also brought attention to the caregivers. Family members, who are most often the primary caregivers, are essential to bringing stability for people with LBD, but the tremendous strain they endure is frequently overlooked. However, as the rate of dementia continues to climb, it will become increasingly important to give caregivers proper attention and recognition. My family works to change all aspects of LBD, from treatment to family. We hope that you’ll donate to our cause and participate in our upcoming 5K fundraiser to help!

Today is January 28th, World Lewy Body Dementia Day, and there are so many ways for us to make the most of it! Spread information over social media or in your daily life to help to raise awareness. Having more people who are educated about Lewy Body Dementia can lead to more people seeking a potential early diagnosis, which can be life-changing! In a world where we’re making new advances every day to diagnosing and finding the cure to LBD, nobody should have to live in fear of having it unknowingly. Lewy Body Dementia affects over 11 million people worldwide, my Papa once being one of those people. He was a kind man and an amazing grandfather, and I hope that more children can have the chance to grow up with their grandparents in a world without Lewy Body Dementia to take that away.
