Great news, CFSA!! We have a new Director. Please welcome Kelly Desjardins.
Kelly is a fourteen-year experienced US Figure Skating Professional Director and coach both in Oklahoma and Southern California. She spent the last few years directing, coaching and overseeing a 3 sheet Olympic training facility with the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL within the Los Angeles area. She managed 21 staff coaches including world and Olympic coaches and 25 guest coaches offering 120 hours of FS ice a week with 500+ figure skaters weekly. Kelly achieved significant results by promoting and organizing USFS Learn to Skate clinics (both pre and post pandemic) attracting more than 300+ new skaters. She created the Learn to Skate for Hockey as well as the Jr. Academy and Academy programming and was recognized by USFS for achieving record breaking LTS Memberships for the 2018/2019 season. Her expertise lie within organizing rink relations such as master arena scheduling, staff scheduling, coaching assignments and Learn to Skate programming, she directs annual summer and Christmas shows as well as hosting/directing local USFS Compete USA competitions twice per year. She is motivated, creative and ambitious with a love for international travel, gardening, cooking but most importantly, a passion for the ice.
In the Fall of 2021, Kelly’s husband took a job as the new Head Coach for the SPHL Macon Mayhem in Macon, GA. Kelly took a big leap of faith and left LA for southern Georgia life. After a few months of living in Macon, she saw huge potential for small town arena programming and had to create a plan.
The city of Macon welcomed the vision and jumped on board where she quickly started and grew a successful first ever Learn to Skate and freestyle program for Macon. In the Fall of 2022, her and her husband are happy to announce they will be offering a new youth hockey program as well.
Kelly’s vision is to create organized, successful and sustainable on ice programming in Macon, Columbus and hopefully in the future, even Savannah, to nurture and grow grass root foundations for on ice sports. “My husband and I want to share the love of the ice with as many kids and adults in Georgia as possible, both in Hockey and Figure Skating. We hope we can coach, teach and inspire as many people as we possibly can.”
We welcome Kelly and look forward to growing our club with her.
