Timothy "Tim" Jay Thompson of Absarokee, MT died unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 26th, at the age of 68. Tim was born on September 13, 1955, to Virginia “Geno” and Wally Thompson. He was a lifelong resident of the Stillwater Valley. Tim followed in his parent's footsteps, working as a rancher for the majority of his life. He loved the land that he worked and was a natural horseman and roper in his younger years. Later in life, he picked up the interest of wagons and team horses. He and his son, Blake – Tim’s pride and joy – crossed the Montana portion of the Bozeman Trail by wagon with other cowboys in 2001. He was often found with his team and wagon in parades and at community events offering rides to locals. He loved music and was known for his skills on the dance floor. Tim is survived by his son Blake Thompson and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Wally Thompson, and mother, Geno Thompson, of Absarokee. Tim never met a stranger! He’ll be remembered by his family and many friends as someone who laughed (and cried) easily and was always there to lend a hand and open his home to a friend in need. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6th, at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Columbus, MT. A lunch and celebration of life will follow at the Whitebird School House, 660 Whitebird Creek Rd, Columbus, MT 59019. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Whitebird Community Center in Tim’s memory. Timothy Jay "Tim" Thompson
