This month our members will be competing amongst each other to see who can collect the most plastic, diverting it from our landfills! The plastic will be due on November 17th at our last general body meeting for the semester! All plastic collected will be used by our engineering team to reshape it into new products!! The winner will receive a full set of coasters! GOOD LUCK!! ♻️

Spent our afternoon with this Saturday, Oct. 23 cleaning up around the Olentangy river in Columbus! Filled up 5 trash bags and spent time with great people:)

great to be outside helping keep our environment free of trash and litter. Always a reminder that education and prevention are measures that need to be taken in our community to keep the river & the outdoors litter-free and thriving🌍

Happy Member Spotlight Monday! For our last spotlight post this semester, we’re going back to our roots and featuring Chris Chia! Chris helped found BPP in 2018. He’s a fifth year Biochemistry major with minors in Neuroscience and Spanish! 🧪🔬🗣

Chris helped start BPP because “I am very fond of the idea of closed loop recycling to decrease the demand of single use plastics. I think this idea is largely overlooked in the medical field and I hope to implement these ideas at my future job.”

His favorite thing about BPP is “I enjoy the diverse group of people that has become BPP. I find all the talent out group has developed infatuating. I have high hopes for the organization and I am excited for where we’ll be the next 3 years!”

Fun fact about Chris he’s spent more hours shadowing doctors in Spain 🇪🇸 than any other country. Swipe to see a pic!

We’re thankful for the help, guidance, and effort Chris has put into BPP over the years!

Happy Member Spotlight Monday! On our penultimate spotlight post this semester, we’re excited to shoutout our awesome project lead JD Keller! He’s a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student ⚙️🔩📐 and has made great progress with our Micro Injection machine. (Swipe to see that machine and its products!)

JD joined BPP because “When I first met the team, I felt they had a real sense of direction and purpose. I never doubted their passion for the project and I’ve always wanted to be a part of a team that truly cares about serving the community”

His favorite thing about BPP is “The time spent in Baker Systems lab learning and applying new skills that I’ve gained in BPP. The team does an excellent job improving each other and I really enjoy that”

Fun fact about JD he’s an avid golfer 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

We’re very glad to have JD be part of BPP, he’s an outstanding project lead and a great team player!

Happy Member Spotlight Monday! Today we are featuring our fantastic member Delia Do. Here she’s featured masked up and getting out the vote! 😷📨💪

Delia is a 1st year pharmacy student. She joined BPP because she wants to help the community and help work against the problem of plastic pollution. She enjoys the people in BPP and collaborating on projects with everyone.

Fun fact about Delia:
“My high school physics teacher told me some levels of pollution can enhance the color of sunsets!! 🌅 It’s still bad for the environment though...”

We are so glad Delia is part of the team!

Our engineering group has been hard at work making some awesome recycled products! ♻️💚💪 Check out the photoshoot we did to feature all their efforts in the best light 📸. These products are made from #2 HDPE bottle caps we collected from our members. We will eventually use these pictures for our online store! Which product (or photo) do you like the most?? Happy Member Spotlight Monday! Today we are featuring our awesome new member Ethan Laib! Here he’s featured cleaning up the Olentangy River (click the link in our bio to sign up yourself)!

Ethan is a 3rd year mechanical engineering student. He joined BPP because he’s passionate about sustainability and wants to learn more about recycling plastic waste!

We’re halfway through spooky season! 🎃😬👻 As promised, we’re hosting more cleanup events in collaboration with the Inter-Professional Council before the weather gets too cold! Starting this weekend (17/18) and ending November 1st, you can participate throughout individually or at a scheduled group cleanup events each weekend. All participants will need to register using this link here or in our bio: https://forms.gle/gFiSkEKpjLZuEp537

The group events are limited to 10 people and further safety guidelines can be found on the link as well.

Each weekend has a theme item. The first weekend’s theme is aluminum cans, the second weekend’s theme is plastic bags and the final theme is plastic straws! Each weekend you have a chance to win a $25 gift card by sending in a picture of you cleaning up by Sunday night and if you pick up the most theme items at the group event your group can win a recycled Ohio key chain fob!
