Did you know that there are an estimated 3.7 million Black-owned businesses nationwide, representing around 11% of all businesses in the United States?

These businesses contribute significant economic activity, support jobs, and strengthen local communities.

When communities support local enterprises, that economic power stays in the community and helps drive long-term access, opportunity, and stability.

Investing in the next generation isn't just good business; it's how we build the future we want to see.

Last summer, Sky Nile Consulting Founder & CEO Jennifer Walton didn't just talk about uplifting future leaders. She showed up for them. Five high school interns collaborated on a capstone project and presented it to community leaders and professionals, gaining real-world experience in brand storytelling and strategic communications.

This is the kind of leadership that moves our communities forward: giving our youth the platform, guidance, and space to step outside their comfort zones and into their power.

Madam C.J. Walker was an American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist. She is recorded as the first self-made woman millionaire in America in the Guinness Book of World Records. In addition to developing a cosmetics and hair care line specifically for Black women, Madam C.J. Walker made significant financial contributions to community organizations advocating for economic justice and the arts.

Her legacy reminds us that building wealth and building community aren't separate goals—they're the same work.
