What a day at Lincoln Park! We were proud to have CPF representation at today’s ribbon cutting for the brand-new synthetic turf baseball infields.

These upgrades mean fewer rainouts, more reliable fields, and bigger tournaments coming to Columbus.

The Columbus Park Foundation is proud to celebrate this win for our parks and our community!

This big investment was made possible by a READI grant and the Columbus Area Visitors Center.

As a department dedicated to enriching lives, we understand that the current state of Freedom Field Park doesn’t align with our community’s aspirations. We empathize with your concerns and assure you that we’re actively working on addressing them.

We hear you. The park hasn’t been forgotten. We’ve been working on the planning and funding pieces for quite some time, and we recognize it has taken longer than anyone anticipated, including us. A project that benefits so many community members and partners demands meticulous coordination and teamwork. The groundwork we’ve laid is now paying off.

We are thrilled to announce that construction on a new $1.2 million playground at Freedom Field Park will commence late summer/early fall. Additionally, we have partnered with the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) to ensure its long-term maintenance. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is subject to budget approval by the BCSC school board in 2027 and beyond, BCSC will contribute annually to the Park Foundation. These contributions will be a portion of the funds used for the playground’s long-term maintenance requirements. This MOU for the playground would be an extension of an existing annual MOU between Parks and BCSC for our other shared properties.

We are committed to progressing through this process collaboratively, with a shared vision of creating an inclusive and sustainable park. Please stay tuned, as we will strive to provide you with regular updates and information.

We can always count on our board member, Eric Rippy Riddle, to know the best events around town. Today he sent this photo from the Throw Like A Pirate disc golf event at Donner Park, hosted by the Columbus Disc Golf Club and benefiting Mental Health Matters and Columbus Regional Hospital foundation. At CPF, we love to see parks activated by community groups who enjoy nature, the rec equipment, and build relationships at the same time!

We hope you arrrrgh happy with the event 🏴‍☠️
