Africans Investing in Africa (AIA) is a new organization initiated in October 2013 by a group of young and diverse leaders based in Columbus, Ohio. Our mission is to strengthen the investments of the diaspora into the human and social capital of African youth in order to achieve their full potential to positively lead and impact their communities. Our first project is a Book Drive for Ethiopia. It
is essential to share resources especially to other parts of the world where they may have limited to zero access to reading materials. Our mission is to provide an academic/educational book drive to the National Archives and Library Agency in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in order to instill in the minds of the Ethiopian youth the significance of a reading culture and the accomplishments that come along with it. We believe in the core fact that engaging oneself in the act of reading develops an individual’s literacy level. These youth are unable to do so due to the library's incapacity to meet their standards and academic needs. Therefore, we have come to a conclusion that the first and most efficient way to get this idea into action is to collect books and physically send them to the Ethiopian public library.
