Yummy scenes from our Strawberry 🍓 Freezer Jam class this afternoon. We had a good of time & everyone went home with their own batch (6 1/2 pint jars) that they made their very own selves. And then Linda made us biscuits & we sampled the jam with hot buttered biscuits. And wow were they DELICIOUS!!!!!
After we got started capping & chopping the berries, Donna shared a short devotion & prayer with us.
Devotion: “Taste and See”
As we make strawberry freezer jam today, we're taking something fresh and preserving it so it can be enjoyed long after the harvest season has passed. In many ways, our faith works similarly. God gives us moments of joy, lessons, blessings, and answered prayers—not just for a single day, but to carry with us through every season of life.
The Bible says in Psalm 34: “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” As we taste the sweetness of these strawberries, we're reminded of God's goodness and faithfulness.
Making jam also requires a little work, patience, and care. Relationships do too. The sweetness we experience in life often grows from time spent with God, time spent with family and friends, and the small acts of kindness we share with others.
And just as jam is rarely made only for ourselves, God's blessings are meant to be shared. A simple jar of homemade jam can become a gift, an encouragement, or a reminder to someone that they are loved and remembered.
As we work today, may we reflect on the goodness God has given us, preserve those blessings in our hearts, and look for opportunities to share His sweetness with others.
Prayer
"Lord, thank You for the gifts You provide and for the sweetness You bring into our lives. As we make this jam today, help us remember Your goodness, treasure Your blessings, and share Your love generously with those around us. Amen."
