When the Nu Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, was chartered on March 29, 1980, it made history in the city of Columbus, Mississippi. Set in what is also known as the “Friendly City,” an idealistic group of African-American women came together, seeking changes to their lives and others by organizing the first graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. r goal: to become deeply involved and rooted in the community and surrounding area through acts of service, kindness, and good deeds for the young and old. The chapter continues to grow and meet the challenges of the world by promoting and helping to advance young college women, addressing problems in the community through its programs and initiatives, and encouraging friendships in the 20th century and beyond. Timely because we believe in providing services and kindness to our sisters and brothers in need, and timeless because of our desire to show and demonstrate a continuation of services and dedication to the future needs in our local communities and the world abroad. We strive to be supreme in “Service To All Mankind” through the assimilation of 860 chapters throughout the region of the United States and other countries. We pledge to trudge on to greater heights, seeking other sisters to join us in our struggles and our triumphs to greater service, love, pride, and respect to people of all origins and backgrounds.
