Get to know one of our Founders - John Underman!

What is your personal motivating factor in being involved in this type of philanthropy? My passion for Five Strong (and philanthropy in general) comes from the fact that the demographic age of the charitable community is aging out. Most millennials are willing to volunteer their time, but few are raising money to impact causes. My partners and I feel it is imperative to lead our generation in the efforts of leaving Columbus better than we found it.

How does the Five Strong Foundation impact you personally?

This has become a passion of mine. By raising money to offer camps at no cost, I am proud to be a part of such a great organization that is helping individuals with developmental disabilities live more active and healthy lifestyles, as well as helping them build self-confidence and interpersonal skills.

What a Month for Five Strong Foundation! We’ve had an incredible few weeks filled with amazing events and support for our mission:

Five Strong Sports Camp at Recreation Unlimited was a huge success, with an amazing turnout and unforgettable experiences for our campers!

We also proudly supported Recreation Unlimited's Annual Golf Tournament, their largest fundraiser of the year — helping to ensure more opportunities for our community.

A special thank you to Title Agency for hosting a fantastic Happy Hour fundraiser in support of Five Strong. We’re so grateful for the continued commitment from our partners to empower our campers with developmental disabilities.

🌟 Smiles Abound at Five Strong Sports Camp! 🌟

Our recent camp at Recreation Unlimited was nothing short of magical. The campers had the chance to fish, shoot arrows, canoe, ride a pontoon boat, and even cook over an open fire. For Valerie Fuller, whose son Michael joined us for the first time, the experience was unforgettable: "Wow, just wow. We didn’t think Michael (who uses a wheelchair) would be able to do much, but he was included in everything. This is very special.”

At Five Strong, we believe in making every moment count and are dedicated to growing opportunities for all campers. ❤️
