TWT (Tennessee Williams Tribute) offerings have been virtual using videotaped segments and live streaming since March of 2020.
This September 2022, we hope to celebrate our 20th Anniversary by gathering together LIVE and IN PERSON to learn about Tennessee Williams’ life and body of work.
He was born in Columbus and lived with his mother, sister, and grandparents at the Rectory at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Columbus, Mississippi.
Tennessee Williams Tribute will hold auditions for its 20th Anniversary production of Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Auditions will be held.
Thursday, May 12, 2022, beginning at 6:30 pm,
Friday, May 13, 2022, beginning at 6:30 pm,
Saturday, May 14, 2022, beginning at noon at the Omnova Theatre at the Columbus Arts Council/Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main St., Columbus, MS.
If you are interested in giving your time and talent as part of the technical team that creates a performance, there is a spot for you.
Those who tread the boards must have a set in which to exist…costumes to wear, stage makeup to apply, and the actors must be able to be seen and heard (lights and sound).
That's where you come in.
Drop by the Omnova Theatre on MAY 12th or 13th, or Saturday the 14th & give TWT your contact information.
Volunteer your time and talents… some of the opportunities include set design,
set construction, set painting, hairstyling, stage makeup, prop hunting/creating, lighting crew, sound crew, backstage crew…
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. You may attend the auditions once, or you are welcome to participate in all three auditions.
Special arrangements are offered for folks who cannot be present on the 12th, 13th, or 14th. Just email [email protected]. TWT Players will respond to your request or questions.
The final round of auditions will be held Saturday, May 14, at noon.
Performance dates: Thursday, September 8, 7:30 pm; Friday, September 9, at 7:30 pm; Saturday, September 11 at 7:30 pm.
Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof contains roles for children ages 7-11 and adults ranging in age from the late 20s through the 70s.
2022 will mark the first opportunity since MARCH 2020 for us to gather together and enjoy live theatre, the Stella Hollering Contest, and an open mic opportunity for poets to read Tennessee Williams poetry and their original poetry.
We are so close to the pandemic being under control, but it’s not entirely over, as the recent increase in Covid Omicron BA2 numbers indicates. We ask that persons auditioning or volunteering to work on the crew be fully vaccinated.
