Pursuing Our Dreams POD

Pursuing Our Dreams POD MarShawn McCarrel II was born November 23, 1992 in Columbus, OH. He also started a community outreach initiative which he called "Feed The Streets".

MarShawn, along with some help from his twin brother MarQuan McCarrel founded the Community Activist Group ''Pursuing Our Dreams" (P.OD.).This group was founded on the belief that ''We have to BUILD community, to MOVE community". Through this movement he led his peers through the impoverished neighborhoods of Columbus, OH passing out lunches in hopes of giving our people hope. He received the NAAC

P ''Hometown Hero" Humanitarian Award for 2016, acknowledging the work he had done in Columbus. MarShawn contributed all over the United States. He was a member of the Nashville Five, and active participant in the Ferguson Movement, a member of the National Poetry Slam Team for Ohio, and a teacher for Freedom Schools, which is a literacy program for underprivileged youth. MarShawn was also involved in countless efforts that fought against racial, social and economic injustices. MarShawn was a son, a twin, a big brother, a powerful speaker, a leader, a poet, an artist, a historian, and a lover of all mankind. He is famous for one of many of his quotes, "I need a pistol that shoots hope, I would light the hood up."
