VFW Auxiliary Post 4272

VFW Auxiliary Post 4272 The VFW Auxiliary supports projects that benefit veterans, active-duty service members and their families. We also spread patriotism in out community.

The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations and our members are the relatives of those who have served in a location of foreign conflict. We have nearly half a million members nationwide who volunteer millions of hours and fundraise millions of dollars for charitable projects that benefit veterans, military service personnel, and their families. Through our Nati

onal Programs, we assist the VFW pass or block legislation that impacts veterans and their families, provide nearly a million volunteer hours in the VA medical system, conduct patriotic programs with thousands of dollars in scholarships for our nation’s youth. With nearly 4,000 Auxiliaries, there is likely one in your area working to improve the lives of America’s uncommon heroes.

With profound sadness, DFW Honor Flight honors the life and service of World War II Veteran Stan Nelson of Anoka, Minnesota, who passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 105.

Stan served our nation with extraordinary courage as a Lieutenant (j.g.) and Communications Officer aboard LCI-492. On D-Day, he was among the first wave at Omaha Beach—piloting his landing craft again and again through relentless enemy fire, placing himself in harm’s way to carry Allied soldiers safely toward shore.

Stan did more than witness one of history’s defining moments.

He helped secure the freedom we cherish today.

We are forever grateful for his service, his sacrifice, and his legacy. It is our honor to remember him.

Rest in peace, Stan Nelson. 🕊️🇺🇸

Forever a hero. Forever honored.

Today, on Purple Heart Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in service to our country.
🟣 The Purple Heart is more than just a medal—it is a sacred symbol of courage, sacrifice, and an unshakable love of country. It represents the price of freedom and the strength of those who have borne the battle.

At DFW Honor Flight, we have the privilege of flying heroes who carry the weight of this honor. Among them are our Purple Heart recipients—veterans who faced unthinkable danger and gave more than we can ever repay.

To each of you: your bravery humbles us. Your stories inspire us. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.
We fly for you. We remember you. We honor you—always.

💜 These are some of our Purple Heart recipients, featured here in veteran blue—a color symbolizing loyalty, strength, and the enduring spirit of those who served.

We thank you. We salute you. And we will never stop fighting to make sure your sacrifices are remembered.
