Update from the vet yesterday:

Fluff thankfully does NOT appear to have a broken or dislocated jaw. Hands straight to heaven for that one. He does have a ton of swelling and pretty significant bruising in his mouth and throat, though. Thankfully Auntie Natascha came up to the vet while we were there and taught me how to tube feed him after we realized he won’t swallow when food is placed on his tongue.

Floof, meanwhile, appears to be completely injury free. Yesterday she wouldn’t eat on her own, but she absolutely scarfed down slurry from a syringe, and today she’s eating independently again like nothing ever happened.

Tator Tot was switched to stronger eye meds, and this morning he ate on his own too!!! Tiny victories around here feel HUGE sometimes.

I didn’t get video of Nemo yesterday, but poor guy has a horrible case of stomatitis. We’re likely going to have to remove his teeth soon. He got steroid injections and has started clindamycin, so we’re hoping he starts feeling a little better quickly because his mouth looks so painful.

It was a very long day, and honestly we are exhausted, but seeing some of these babies improving today helped a lot. We’ll post more updates soon ❤️

We’re at the vet with Tator Tot (from Mom's Kitchen Hartford), Fluff and Floof (temporary names), and Nemo today. Please pray for Fluff, he was attacked by something yesterday, and we suspect a broken jaw 😪. Tator Tot is still pretty sick and Nemo is still having issues with his mouth 😭

Thank you to Felines Under Rescue (FUR) for covering Floof and Fluff today!

The orange cats probably told the chickens this was a good idea 🤣

Staff at Mom's Kitchen Hartford rescued this baby yesterday, and we picked him up today. He's super floofy with a bit of upper respiratory infection, but absolutely adorable 😍

It’s been a crazy week around here.

Between Mr. Popper getting sick, the Georgia spay/neuter trip with 10 cats, and then another vet run yesterday with Bocephus, Mr. Popper, and Binx, we are officially running on caffeine and bad decisions at this point 🤣

Mr. Popper is a little improved, but still not really eating on his own. Dr. Wes sent us home with anti-nausea meds and an appetite stimulant, so we’re hoping that helps get him interested in food again soon. He is NOT a fan of syringe feeding, and for anyone wondering...that cat is ridiculously strong for a sick cat.

Poor Binx had a massive abscess rupture yesterday. Dr. Wes kept him overnight so he could debride and close everything up properly, and we also found out he’s FIV+. He came home this morning looking pretty good all things considered, though he is currently sporting a very unfortunate shaved butt situation 😭

And these little wild things are some feral kittens from Wausau we brought in last week that we haven’t even had time to post yet. It took them approximately one hour to figure out how to unzip the kennel and release themselves into the room like tiny furry jailbreak masterminds.

We are exhausted. The cats are exhausted. Even the laundry is exhausted.

Shout out to Best Friends Animal Society for helping us unload the kitties this morning for our spay/neuter run ❤️

Barbara got a message Monday (y'all know where this is going, right?) for help with kittens a mama kitty (just a kitten herself) wasn't taking care of, and more moms with kittens. Robin and I jumped into action...she with taking the bottle babies, and me checking out the situation.

A lady on disability, who can't look away from abandoned cats, needs help. She's fixed a few as she had the money, but she's struggling with the rest, and scrapes together pennies to feed them.

Felines Under Rescue (FUR) is sponsoring the vet bill for the injured kitty (Bocephus, he was caught yesterday, we will get him to the vet tomorrow) and going to help with fixing them and we will handle transporting them. We have no room for the kittens right now, but we promised to take them in a few weeks.

In the meantime, she could really use help keeping these kitties fed. Because there are at least 5-6 nursing moms (we know where 4 litters are right now, one is inaccessible and we don't know how old they are yet), and the kittens are starting to be ready for food, we have only put food appropriate for kittens on the list. She, and we, are very grateful for any assistance. There are 19 or so adults and over a dozen kittens, all migrating from mobile home parks on either side of her 😢

Wishlist in comments, it ships directly to her.

We are sooooo relieved to report that Mr. Popper does indeed have an ear infection....he made the diagnosis pretty easy by rupturing his eardrum on the way to the vet this morning.

We rescued him in the summer of 2023, a feral ~6 month old, all teeth and claws. Eventually he warmed up to us, and became the most loving boy, asks for attention all the time. Her does have a major flaw...he doesn't like to use a litter box. We were going to introduce him to the outside colonies, but we discovered he INSTANTLY goes feral again outside....strangest thing we've ever seen! We immediately brought him back inside when we found that out, and just do a lot of cleaning 🤦‍♀️ He reminded us of a penguin, so he became Mr. Popper from the book Mr. Popper's Penguins, as Newberry award winner, published in 1938 by Florence and Richard Atwater.

He's generally a good boy, minus the potty issues, but he does like to instigate trouble now and then!

And I really hope we gave Dr. Wes a good start to his day...I was so confused as to where Cinnamon's stitches went, and I was mortified to tell him I thought Cinnamon took them out. "That tends to happen when we use dissolving stitches," he said. 🤦‍♀️🤣

A pic of Mr. Popper from a few days after we started TW! Dr. Wes wants to see him again Friday if he isn't much better by then! He's had an antibiotic shot and is on oral antibiotics and daily ear flushes.
