The Down syndrome journey brings unmatched joy, but it also demands incredible strength. 💛💙

For those currently in the thick of it, you are managing IEPs, juggling therapies, navigating medical appointments, and advocating fiercely every day. The exhaustion behind your strength is very real.

This , we acknowledge families who may have recently experienced a loss. The grief of missing a child or close loved one and the unique light they brought into the world is a profound weight to carry.

Whether you are currently running the marathon of caregiving, or navigating the painful emptiness of loss, your mental health matters. You do not have to carry it all perfectly.

Take a moment for a mental health check right now:

💚 Check your body: Unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, and take three deep breaths.

💚 Release the expectations: Give yourself permission to just be today, whether that means stepping away from therapy, school or house work, or letting yourself cry.

💚 Accept your feelings: It is okay to feel exhausted, angry, heartbroken, or overwhelmed. All of your emotions are valid.

You are doing the best you can. Whether you are advocating in the clinic or honoring a beautiful memory, you are not alone in the DSAGC village.

This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating ALL moms, mother figures, caregivers, grandmothers, aunties, mentors, and the women who love, nurture, guide, and support us through every stage of life. 💐💛

Whether by birth, choice, family, friendship, or community; your love makes a difference, and you deserve to be celebrated!

Let’s continue to fill this space with encouragement, gratitude, and appreciation for the women who help hold our families and communities together. 💙💛

🌺 This month, we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month; a time to honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of AAPI communities.

Within DSAGC, we also recognize and celebrate the diversity within our Down syndrome community. Inclusion means uplifting every voice, every story, and every family. 💛

Did you know? Down syndrome occurs across all races and ethnicities, and cultural representation plays a vital role in ensuring families feel seen, supported, and connected.

We are at the Black Maternal Health Expo hosted by the Georgia Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and we are having important conversations about overcoming barriers in multiple health disparities to our mothers. From stress, mental health, prenatal, and more WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT! We will be here until 12 noon.
