Three years ago, Daniel’s parents began to notice small changes. Walking became more difficult. Climbing stairs took more effort. Keeping up with friends wasn’t as easy as it used to be.

After countless doctor visits and tests, Daniel was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA), a rare genetic disorder that affects balance, coordination, muscles, and the heart.

Then the Murphy family received even more difficult news. Two of Daniel’s sisters were also diagnosed with FA. In an instant, their world changed.

But what hasn’t changed is the Murphy family’s determination to give their children joyful, active lives filled with as many memories as possible.

One thing Daniel has never been able to do is ride a bike. Because of FA, riding a traditional bicycle simply wasn’t possible.

That’s why an adaptive bicycle means so much. It will give Daniel the chance to ride alongside friends, enjoy family rides through the park, and take part in events like Ride Ataxia. Most importantly, it gives him something every child deserves: the simple joy and freedom of riding a bike.

Thanks to the generosity of Athletes Helping Athletes and the mission of Christopher’s Promise, Daniel will soon receive an adaptive bicycle. Because of you, Daniel’s dream of riding a bike has become a reality. 💙

Today is one of those days that reminds us why this mission is both so meaningful — and so incredibly hard. 💔 We recently learned that one of our very first Christopher’s Promise kiddos, Lauren, has passed away. After more than 170 adaptive bike giveaways, she is someone we will always remember.

We were looking back at a photo from 2012, taken on the day Lauren received her adaptive bicycle — a moment frozen in time that now carries even more meaning.

We are deeply grateful to Athletes Helping Athletes, whose generosity made it possible for Lauren to receive her very first adaptive bike. Because of their support, she was given moments of freedom, joy, and independence — memories her family will always hold close.

While our hearts are full knowing we were able to help make that bike a reality for her, the heartbreak that comes with this kind of news never gets easier. These children and their families stay with you long after delivery day.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with Lauren’s family. We hope they feel surrounded by love and comfort during this unimaginable time.

Rest easy, sweet girl. 💙🚲
You will always be part of the Christopher's Promise story.

Today was one of those days that fills your heart right up. Tyler got his adaptive bike—and from the very first moment, it was pure joy 💙🚲 It’s the 173rd adaptive bike from Christopher’s Promise, and wow, what a special milestone it is.

Tyler is an energetic, hilarious 8-year-old from Chesapeake, Virginia. He’s the youngest and the only boy in a family of six kids, which pretty much explains his nonstop energy. He’s always on the move, always curious—especially about science—and if Tyler has something to say, he’s definitely not sitting still while he says it.

About a year ago, life took an unexpected turn when Tyler was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia. It’s a rare condition that’s made it harder for him to keep up with his friends and do the things he loves most, like riding bikes and playing his favorite game, "zombie tag." Watching from the sidelines has been incredibly hard for him and his family.

But today—that all changed.

This bike is so much more than wheels and pedals. It gives Tyler confidence, freedom, and the simple, beautiful joy of being a kid again. Seeing him ride, smile, and just be Tyler was everything.

We’re beyond grateful to Rex Riggs and Nancy Rosiello Riggs for funding this bike through Christopher’s Promise, and to Pedal Bicycle Co. for making sure it fit Tyler perfectly. Your kindness made this moment possible, and it means more than words can say.

Life may look different for Tyler and his family —but today was all about movement, laughter, and unforgettable joy. And that’s exactly why this mission matters 💙🚲

On this Christmas Eve, we’re reminded of what the season truly represents—gratitude, love, hope, and showing up for one another when it matters most. 🎄✨🚲

This week, our hearts are full as we celebrated a powerful milestone: Elizabeth and Joshua became the 171st and 172nd recipients of adaptive bicycles through Christopher’s Promise, made possible by our incredible partners at Athletes Helping Athletes.

Both Elizabeth and Joshua live with Friedreich’s Ataxia, facing daily challenges with balance, fatigue, and mobility—yet they meet each day with resilience, courage, and joy far beyond their years. They continue to learn, play, dream, and move forward, refusing to let limitations define their possibilities.

Elizabeth finds joy in reading, swimming, karate, and spending time outdoors with friends. Joshua loves math, books, traveling, and keeping pace with his peers—even when his body makes it harder. What they share is a wish many of us never have to think twice about: the freedom to ride a bike alongside their friends, feeling included, confident, and carefree.

Because of Athletes Helping Athletes, that wish became reality this holiday season. Moments like these remind us that generosity in action can change lives—and that none of this is possible without people who choose compassion and community over convenience.

As we gather with loved ones tonight, may we pause to reflect on the blessings we often take for granted. The greatest gifts aren’t always found under the tree—they’re found in the independence, confidence, and pure joy we help place into a child’s hands.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in this mission and for continuing to support Christopher's Promise 💙🚲

Today we had the privilege of joining The Columbus Foundation’s Big Table, a day built around meaningful conversations that strengthen community connection. Our discussion focused on Adaptive Programming: Ensuring Access to Recreation, and it shed light on both the challenges and opportunities within inclusive recreation.

We heard powerful stories and real experiences from individuals, advocates, and organizations who are working to break down barriers to participation. Their insights were honest and eye-opening—highlighting not just the gaps that still exist, but also the progress being driven by creativity, collaboration, and compassion across Central Ohio.

Today was a reminder that access to recreation is about equity, dignity, and inclusion. When people come together with purpose, ideas become action and connection leads to change. Proud to be part of this important conversation and inspired by the work ahead. ♿💬✨

💚 Say hello to Amelia – our 170th adaptive bike superstar! 💚

Earlier this year, Amelia was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a rare neuromuscular condition that affects her balance and mobility. But if you think that slows her down—you haven’t met Amelia! 🚴‍♀️✨

This weekend, she hopped on her brand-new, bright green adaptive bike and rode for hours with the biggest grin. That smile? Pure freedom, pure childhood, pure joy. 🌟

We’re so honored to be part of Amelia’s journey and beyond grateful to Catie Christensen and the Curatolo Foundation for making this life-changing gift possible.

Here’s to Amelia’s unstoppable spirit and countless miles of smiles ahead! 💚
