Downtown Columbus & Columbus Recreation and Parks Department are hosting Free Kayak Days! 🛶 Take a free watercraft ride and enjoy the view from the Scioto River. Demand is expected to be high. First-come, first-served. Kayaks will be launched from the boat launch under the Main Street bridge, near Bicentennial Park.

This event is coordinated by Downtown Columbus, Inc., please follow their Facebook or Instagram for updates.

🚨Trail Alert 🚨
We are hearing from our partners at Metro Parks: Red White and Boom Trail Update: SCIOTO MILE TRAIL ACCESS: *Beginning Saturday, June 27, Genoa Park and the trail on the west side of the Scioto River between the Souder Road Bridge and Rich St./Town St. Bridge and Broad Street Bridge will be closed until Saturday, July 4. *Beginning Sunday, June 28, the trail on the east side of the Scioto River between the Souder Road Bridge and Rich St./Town St. Bridge and the Broad Street Bridge will have limited access. It will be fully closed July 2- July 4th. Please use Marconi Blvd.

Whether you’re kayaking the Scioto or canoeing the Olentangy, make safety part of your plan. Stay safe with these helpful tips and resources from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR):
✅ Wear a life jacket at all times
✅ Use the buddy system and share your float plan with someone you trust
✅ Check river conditions and avoid high water or fast currents
✅ Watch for hazards like strainers (downed trees) and low-head dams
✅ Dress for the water temperature, not just the air

Since November 2024, COTA has been making some big changes thank to LinkUS Columbus. They've seen a 5% increase in ridership, 37 sidewalk, bikeway and trail projects funded for 2026, and progress on major corridors in the Central Ohio region like West Broad and East Main.

See the progress for yourself! Several of the 37 projects, that are funded for 2026 with $29.7 million in combined funding, are anticipated to break ground this year. Join LinkUS partners on Monday,June 15th to commemorate a historic investment in creating walkable, bikeable and connected communities.
