May 9th is Migratory Bird Day! 🐦👀 The theme for World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) 2026, “Every Bird Counts – Your Observation Matter” highlights the role of public participation in collecting data on migratory bird populations and their habitats and factors that impact their populations and contribute to our knowledge about how to protect them.

To celebrate and learn more in Central Ohio, join us at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center for their World Migratory Bird Day Center Exploration event from 10 AM - 3 PM on May 9th! This event is completely FREE, just register here: https://www.audubon.org/grange

‼️Trail Alert‼️ We are hearing from our partners at ODOT: Wednesday and Thursday, May 6th and 7th, the Olentangy Trail at Tuttle Park will close to remove a hazard tree. A detour will be established connecting to the Hudson Loop trail, sending southbound traffic on to the Hudson loop and take them along the temporary trail in front of Tuttle Park pool and back to the Olentangy Trail just south of the pool. The route will re-open as soon as the tree and debris is removed.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 This year's theme is Our Power, Our Planet. This theme reflects a fundamental truth: environmental progress doesn’t depend on any single administration, election or person. It’s sustained by daily actions of communities, educators, workers, and families protecting where they live and work.

Central Ohio’s biking and trail system has grown significantly over the last decade, and we’re creating a new Central Ohio Cycling Guide to help people get around the region by bike. Our MORPC team and our consultant team at Designing Local and Alta Planning have been working hard to bring you a draft of our latest trail and bike maps. Today, we’re excited to share these draft maps and invite you to share your feedback with us using this link: https://us.maptionnaire.com/pcentralohiobicyclingguide

🚲 The 15‑County Central Ohio Greenways Trail Map shows how trails connect across the region and highlights longer‑distance rides for exploring Central Ohio.
🚲 The Columbus Metro Bike Map zooms in on urban biking, showing trails, bikeways, and roadway comfort levels to help people choose routes that feel safe and comfortable.

Take a look and tell us what works, what’s missing, and how we can improve before we print our new map brochures, which will be available for FREE at select locations across the region.

Want to see the maps in person? Join us at Celebrate Trails Day on April 26 at Scioto Audubon Metro Park. You can also view the maps at other locations listed and we'll be updating this list throughout the week!
