We had a great time with everyone who came out to our first build this weekend and are looking forward to meeting more of you for the next ones!

Hello Habitaters!

This week, we have our first meeting this Wednesday, August 28 at 6:30pm in Enarson 306. We will be covering how our club operates and what events we have coming up, in addition to designing a new t-shirt!

We also have a build this Saturday, August 31 from 8am-12pm. Sign up using our Doodle link below and please ensure that you include your dot number! Our volunteer coordinators will be reaching out to those that signed up later in the week with details. Sign-ups are always first-come, first-serve as we have a limited number of available spots. H4H Member Spotlight: Jeremy Blaker

Jeremy is a current junior at OSU studying public health. He is from Cherry Hill, New Jersey and has been involved with Habitat since he was in high school. His favorite thing to do with Habitat is any kind of deconstruction work, saying "we spend about 95% of our time building and creating so anytime there's a need to smash or shatter something with a sledgehammer, I jump at the opportunity." Outside of class and volunteering he also likes to run and is currently training for a marathon this spring! You may have met Jeremy as our fundraising co-chair this year but he will be our President for 2019-2020!

We sent a group down to Goldsboro, North Carolina for a Collegiate Challenge this last week of break! They worked on building a deck and shed to accompany a new home for a family. Thank you to all of our members who participated and especially to our Trip Coordinater, Katie Hawk, for making everything happen!

H4H Member Spotlight: Domenic DiVencenzo

Domenic is a current junior from Grafton, Ohio studying civil engineering. He currently serves as one of our Volunteer Coordinators and loves attending builds to get his hands dirty. He decided to get involved with Habitat after growing up in a family that frequently renovated houses for their property management business. He's excited about using his engineering degree to work with a non-profit organization in the future. Come get to know Dom better at one of our meetings or volunteer activities!

We've been busy! This weekend we contributed an additional 31 volunteer hours to a build we have been working on throughout the summer and fall.

Member Spotlight:

Riley Mullins, Habitat for Humanity OSU Chapter President

Riley is a senior from Carrol, Ohio with a major in Pharmaceutical Sciences. His favorite activities include exploring local coffee shops, cycling/working out, and researching. His favorite thing to do with Habitat is to go to the ReStore, saying "there is always something to do, and each time I volunteer I get to do a new task, such as building a table, repairing refrigerators, cutting carpet, or smashing cardboard." When asked what advice he has for new members, he said "Talk to the people around you! It is amazing what you can learn from others. On the construction site, I have learned to do siding, paint, or frame a garage. In my research experiences, I learn how the immune system is being used to attack cancerous cells. These facts and skills I acquire from others continue to make my life more interesting."
