Yesterday, Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Columbus cohort had the privilege of hearing from two remarkable community leaders, the legendary Representative Calvin Smyre & our President, Betsy Covington, as part of Arts & Culture Day.

For decades, Betsy and Representative Smyre have worked together to champion initiatives that have strengthened and transformed Columbus. Through their reflections on the Columbus Challenge and the lasting impact of public-private partnerships, they emphasized that meaningful progress is built through trust, patience, and a shared commitment.

Change does not happen overnight — it requires collaboration between government, business, nonprofits, and community leaders who are willing to listen, build relationships, and work toward common goals even when challenges arise.

Thank you, Betsy and Representative Smyre, for sharing your wisdom, leadership, and for inspiring the next generation of leaders!

Today marks a powerful milestone in The Salvation Army’s mission to serve families in Columbus. After 10 years of vision, planning, and dedication, the new Center of Hope officially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

This is more than an emergency housing facility—it’s a transformative investment in families and futures. The Center of Hope is designed to break generational cycles of poverty by providing individualized services that address the root causes of homelessness, all while keeping families together.

We’re proud to recognize that several Funds at CFCV helped make this vision a reality. Their support played an important role in bringing hope, stability, and renewed opportunity to families in our community.

A huge thank you to all the incredible nonprofits who joined CFCV for today’s Nonprofit Development Meet-Up. We were thrilled to share our “20 Things to Know About Operating Your 501(c)(3)” resource and have such meaningful conversations around strengthening organizations and impact.

With 67 nonprofit leaders and members in the room, the energy, collaboration, and willingness to learn from one another made this gathering truly special.

We appreciate the work you do every day to serve our communities!
