This award has been created to recognize his honor, integrity and love of the sport of field hockey. He knew when to be tough, when to laugh and when to lead.

The Doug Campbell Courage Award was established in August of 2015. Doug was battling pancreatic cancer and had shown a courageous attitude in facing the fight of his life. Doug Campbell created The Central Ohio Field Hockey Officials' Association. In doing so, he reshaped the face of the field hockey officials association that has become a model for the State. The growth that emerged was due to his leadership, yet passionate caring personality which is his trademark. This award has been created to recognize his honor, integrity and love of the sport and will be presented toward the end of the season to a field hockey player or players in the area that have demonstrated that same courageous heart as they have faced their own battles. Selected recipients will be awarded monies which will be used towards academic or field hockey activities.

While there will not be a Campbell Courage Golf Outing this year (https://conta.cc/3RmzvZ1), the mission behind the event continues to make an impact. ⛳❤️

We want to congratulate Jaiden Gussler, the 2026 recipient of the Doug Campbell Courage Scholarship through the Delaware County Foundation. We are honored to play a small part in supporting local students as they pursue their future goals and opportunities.

Although we’re taking a mulligan in 2026, we look forward to bringing the outing back in 2027 even stronger. Until then, thank you to everyone who has supported Campbell Courage and the scholarship fund over the years — your generosity continues to make a difference.

More information about next year’s outing will be updated here: https://campbellcourage.com

If you've played in our golf outing, you've met our unofficial photographer/cheerleader/raffle ticket seller Terri Simonetti Frost. But the truth is none of this would have existed without the tireless work of her and so many others. Terri was especially close with Doug Campbell and was adamant about making this scholarship something he would truly be proud of...which is why we are so proud to share that Terri was recognized as a National Federation of State High School Associations’ National Coach of the Year!

Terri, we know Dougie is smiling down with such pride and would have wanted to celebrate with you at First Watch!

Thomas' Terri Simonetti Frost has been recognized as one of the National Federation of State High School Associations’ Coaches of the Year.
