Whether you made it to our last meeting or not, we'd love to hear from you on here regarding your adventures with sourdough! If you have questions, are looking for a starter, have a favorite way you love to cook or bake with your sourdough, post it here! No question is too simple, no accident too outlandish, and no recipe too bizarre...(actually, I think the kombucha scoby's tend to get the most bizarre recipe/use ideas!!)

I am so sorry I didn't get this posted earlier! Our next meeting is THIS THURSDAY, March 12 from 6-8pm. An e-mail went out but I am not sure if you are all on our e-mail list. If you are not and would like to be, message us please! Also, please RSVP for the meeting, but because of the last minute notice, feel free to come even if you haven't RSVP'd!

Here's the meeting info:

Breakfast for Dinner will be this Thursday from 6-8 pm. We will have plenty of sourdough pancakes so please bring your favorite breakfast side to share. After "breakfast", Clara Balliet will share tips and answer questions about maintaining a sourdough culture and incorporating it into your regular cooking routine. She will also have starter to share so please bring a container with a lid if you would like to take any home.

This may be of interest to some of you. I shared it from the national WAPF fb page to here. I will also re-post a letter from Sally Fallon asking for people to submit comments regarding a possible mandatory vaccination schedule for adults. I know it is a potentially heated topic, as it is very emotional for people on both sides of the issue, but I hope that people will feel free to respectfully share their thoughts and considerations here, as it is an issue that many parents wrestle with. Now it is also an issue to think about for adults as well!

Also, please still feel free to RSVP for our holiday potluck which will be this Sunday, Nov. 16 from 5-7pm. The more the merrier : )

Our Holiday Potluck is on Sunday November 16th from 5-7pm! We are requesting that people RSVP for this one because we are renting the heated shelter house at Selby Park in Worthington. A suggested donation of $3/adult will allow us to cover the cost of the rental.

We will be talking about ways we handle holiday dinners with family and friends when the foods we eat or our dietary needs may be very different from that of our our extended family. Please bring a favorite recipe, if you have one you would like to share, that would make a nice holiday dish for gatherings : )

All are encouraged to attend regardless of traditional foods experience and skill level. Below are some guidelines for anyone who is unsure of what to bring:

Fruits and vegetables - organic or pesticide-free
Grains, nuts, seeds and beans - GMO-free, soaked or sprouted
Meats and poultry - GMO-free, wild or pastured
Organ Meats - GMO-free, wild or pastured
Eggs - GMO-free, pastured
Dairy - GMO-free, raw and pastured
Fermented, cultured foods

Please bring your own place settings and serving utensils. Recipes would also be nice! We will provide napkins and cups as well as index cards and pens to write out descriptions of your dish and the ingredients.

Again, please reply to this email or call to RSVP by this Saturday, November 8th : )

Thank you!

We had a small but really wonderful meeting yesterday- we couldn't have asked for better weather! We had a tour of Harmonious Homestead- it's very exciting to see what Rachel and Alex are doing on their Clintonville homestead! And to hear how they are dealing with predators that have been after their flock of chickens! I, personally, loved the toothache plant...plants are so cool. The old Burr Oak was breathtaking...

We also met and learned about Caitlin and Dan's farm Copia Farm (they are on fb- I'm not sure why it isn't showing up as a link! You can see the link to their website in the post below, however) in Johnstown. They talked about plans to start a buying club with drop points at homes or places of business- ask them about the possibilities! I loved hearing about their system of growing food/healing soil, and the role livestock has in it all. They have a wealth of information and delicious food to share : ) It's amazing what they have all done in a year- it is inspirational.

Reminder of our next meeting! This Sunday, September 21 from 3-5pm at 1224 E Cooke Rd Columbus OH 43224.

We will hear from Caitlin and Dan of Copia Farm in the Johnstown area. Copia Farm is designed to mimic sustainable ecosystems that were found in this area before settlers came along. They raise pastured heritage breed pork, eggs, and a variety of nutrient-dense biointensively grown fruits and vegetables. You can see more about their farm and practices here: http://www.copiaohio.com/

We will also have a look around Harmonious Homestead, where our meeting will be held! They are a central Ohio homestead, and will share with us some of what they have already put in place as well as where they are headed with future ideas. You can check out their blog here: http://harmonioushomestead.com/

We will also have some water kefir cultures to share, as I know some of you have asked about them. If you have any cultures you'd like to share with others, feel free to bring them. We're looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!
