Althea Jackson Educational Scholarship Application is now open until JUNE 1ST!



Phenomenal Women Inc. has developed the Althea Jackson Educational Scholarship to assist qualifying students in their goals to achieve a higher education.

​

Scholarship Amount

$1,000.00 one-year scholarship to any two or four-year accredited college or university. A total of two scholarships may be awarded.

Our last speaker is Tammy Smith!

Tammy is a native of Ohio and graduate of The Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Social Worker and currently employed with the City of Columbus for Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging. In her current role, Tammy is a Caregiver Program Manager, providing supports, information, and resources to caregivers in the community. She also oversees the National Family Caregiving Support Program, in partnership with the 8 surrounding counites. Tammy is also a former caregiver and kinship caregiver; and has a passion to help those in their caregiving role.

Tammy’s passion is people and serving in the community. She believes one of her purposes in life is to aide in removing barriers to growth and healing. She and her spouse, Don are empty nesters, loving parents, grandparents, and have been married for 18 years. Together, they love to cruise and visit the Caribbean Islands.

She will be talking with us about caregiving and how to care better for ourselves.

Our second speaker for our Empowerment Brunch is Reverend Dr Susan K Smith.! She is the founder of Crazy Faith Ministries in Columbus, Ohio, was formerly the senior pastor of Advent United Church of Christ, where she served for 22 years.

She graduated from Occidental College in 1976, where she earned her BA in English literature, and is a 1986 graduate of Yale Divinity School, where she earned her M.Div. She earned her D. Min. from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, studying under the late Rev. Drs.Samuel Proctor and Charles E. Booth.

She will be talking with us about Project 2025 and the negative impact it will have on our country if we don't vote this upcoming election.

We are so excited for next weekend's speakers! We have three speakers lined up.
Our first speaker is Darlene Maisano she will be talking with us about Nutritional health.

Darlene Maisano MA, RDN, LD is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with more than 35 years’ experience. Darlene has a background in clinical and food service nutrition, public health, education and as a Long Term Care and Assisted Living dietitian.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Dietetics at The Ohio State University and completed her Master’s at the University of Akron. When not working in the field of Dietetics or teaching her classes at Columbus state she enjoys cooking, gardening, spending time with her family and cheering on her beloved Buckeyes.
