This page is dedicated to promoting, demonstrating and contributing to the Central Ohio legal commun It was the first Legal Assistant Association in Ohio.

Legal Assistants of Central Ohio (LACO) was incorporated in June 1973 as a professional association for legal assistants. In October 1979, LACO became a voting member of the National Federation of Paralegal Association (NFPA). On September 18, 1995, the association changed its name to the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio ("PACO"). The name PACO accurately reflects the growing market to recogn

ize the term "paralegal" as being synonymous with the education, experience, and substantive services provided by a paralegal. PACO began with six members and now boasts over 100. PACO is an active member of NFPA and keeps its membership informed on both local and national issues of importance to the profession. Happy National Paralegal Day from the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio!

Today, we celebrate the dedicated paralegals whose knowledge, professionalism, and commitment help ensure access to justice and support the legal community every day.

Paralegals are problem-solvers, organizers, researchers, advocates, and trusted members of legal teams. Their contributions often happen behind the scenes, but their impact is felt in every successful case, client interaction, and legal outcome.

Thank you to the paralegals throughout Central Ohio and across the country for your hard work, expertise, and dedication to the profession!

Today is Paralegal Day!

Monday, May 18, 2026 has been recognized by the State of Ohio and City of Columbus as Paralegal Day! PACO’s annual celebration is TONIGHT. We cannot wait to celebrate with our members, friends, and sponsors for what is sure to be a fun-filled evening of socializing, networking, and celebrating!

If you’ve secured your ticket, don’t forget to bring cash, check, or your credit card for the wonderful silent auction items we will have available to bid on. All silent auction funds raised benefit PACO’s scholarship program.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the events set to kick-off at 6:00 p.m. Ohio Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Brunner will be our keynote speaker for the evening followed by announcements of Awards of Excellence, Service Awards, and Scholarship Recipients. Dinner will be provided and a cash bar will be available to purchase beverages.
