Friends of Thompson Rec Center The Thompson Community Recreation Center opened its doors in 1959. It is named after Francis M. After his death, his work was carried on by his wife, Louise W.

Thompson, a strong believer in civic pride and building strong neighborhoods. Thompson. Thompson is part of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department run by the City of Columbus.
