Daniel Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to cancer prevention. We create unique programs designed to challenge the athlete in you to fight cancer today. We understand a commitment to prevention won’t guarantee a life without cancer, but every step we take is a step in the right direction. Daniel Foundation (LWDF) was founded on the belief that the end of cancer begins with preventio
n. Instead of focusing on what we don’t have – a cure, we help people utilize what we already know and help bring the fight to cancer. LWDF is registered as a nonprofit in the state of Ohio and is a 501(c)(3) under federal tax guidelines. LWDF was created to remember and honor Linda Daniel who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 1995 and lost her fight in 2000. Linda served as an athletic trainer at The Ohio State University from 1975 until her untimely death. Linda became a student athletic trainer at Ohio State in 1971 and worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, Co-Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Rehabilitation Services for the Department of Athletics, all while completing her master's degree in physical therapy at OSU. Additionally, she had extensive international experience in women’s basketball and was involved in numerous national and local athletic training organizations. A strong voice in helping to advance student trainer education, Linda was always ready to lend an ear and a kind word to help heal both the physical and emotional injuries to an incalculable number of student athletes and student athletic trainers. One of the greatest things a person can do with their talents is to share them with others and Linda dedicated her life to doing just that. She set an example for any person who wants to follow his or her dreams. She started out in 1971 with a dream and a lot of drive, through her hard work and persistence; she paved the way for those who will follow her. She was a teacher, leader and a role model for generations to come. MoveMeMonday
Each year, one-third of all cancer deaths in the United States are linked to poor diet, physical inactivity, and carrying too much weight. We don’t want you to donate money once a year and watch from the sidelines. We want you to ACT – Accept the Challenge Today, and help us bring the fight to cancer. How can you ACT? By joining our community to prevent cancer and taking part in our Move Me Monday ( ) initiative. Cancer is an opponent we all share and we want you to know that you’re never fighting alone. What’s ?
is how we help bring the fight to cancer, 52 times a year. Each week we’re going to share a story, ask you to do your part, and we’ll do our best to donate $1 for every BEAT shared on our page each Monday. What’s a BEAT? Since we don’t all share the same interests, physical abilities, or even live in the same place we’ve devised a universal system of awesomeness that anyone can use. Basically, if it has a distance, count it. If not, 15 minutes of your activity equals 1 beat. It’s easier if we use numbers:
3 mile run = 3 BEATS = $3
60 minutes of yoga = 4 BEATS = $4. Personally, Kyle enjoys running. Laura is a StrongMom. Cindy is a Zumba machine. To each their own, all we want is for you to help us ACT and we'll raise some money while doing it! Power walking?? Yep! Cycling?? Of course! Yoga?? Absolutely! Gardening? Yes please! We believe every day is an opportunity and while we can’t do it for you we can do it with you! To help us track BEATS, please post your total (and a picture if you have one!) on the Linda W. Daniel Foundation page on Monday (you should be able to see your post in 'Visitor Posts' on the left hand side of the Linda W Daniel Foundation page) and don't forget to hashtag ! We would love to share your stories, please let us know if you're interested in sharing and/or sponsoring a MoveMeMonday!
