People's Justice Project PJP builds the power of Black and Brown people disproportionately impacted by state violence Donate here: ohiopjp.org

The People’s Justice Project, during the ‘hot phase’ of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2014 when African people were engaged in spontaneous revolt over the countless assassinations of Eric Garner, Mike Brown, John Crawford, and Tamir Rice, created favorable conditions to accelerate the dynamics of political life for the African working class. In analyzing the national conditions which gave bir

th to Black Lives Matter, in Ohio the People’s Justice Project reinforced and insisted on building an organization to house the energy of the African masses in a revolutionary trajectory. People’s Justice Project became a mass or popular political organization seeking to answer the ideological, philosophical and class question from the black revolution of the 60s. PJP is a political organization, divorced from the traditional bourgeois organizations, who’s survival has been assured time and again by linking its struggle to the struggle of the African working class.

On this day, people around the world were reminded about the injustices that Black and brown people face in America. This sparked protests worldwide and was the tipping point to an already boiling pot of tension in America.

The world heard the cries of George Floyd Jr. and we will never forget.

This week we will look back at this pivotal time in modern history. We ask that you join us in reflection and use our content to spark powerful questions in your community.

Wells’s courageous writings and activism launched a decades-long crusade against the crime of lynching that was continually defeated by the political power of Southern Democrats in Congress.

Her editorial made her a target of a white mob that destroyed the press and threatened her, forcing her to flee to New York City.

In 1898, Wells went to Washington, DC, to implore President William McKinley to institute reforms against lynching and discrimination. She continued to fight against the unfair treatment of African Americans and became a co-founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

El-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz, commonly referred to as Malcolm X, was born May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Malcolm X is one of the most well-known leaders of the United States Human and Democratic Rights struggle. He was a spokesperson of the Nation of Islam and was a vocal advocate for Black empowerment and the promotion of Islam in the Black community.

On February 21, 1965, Malcolm X was assassinated in Manhattan, New York. The facts of his assassination are still in question to this day.

PJP was built on a simple truth: the Black working class leads. Not as a talking point — as a practice. When we organize our communities, we change the conditions of our lives.

Register for our next Black AF Study group, where we'll be discussing cross-racial solidarity and how it has shaped our world today. Visit ohiopjp.org/events to learn more and join us.
