A very unique aspect of Dollars 4 Change is that it isn’t an organization that is dedicated to one particular nonprofit or charity. Rather, it is a community service based group that is focused on giving any student the means to help a cause that's close to his or her heart, particularly if it isn’t associated with a pre-established group on campus. D4C has supported a large variety of nonprofits
such as the American Lung Association, Whole Foods, Open Shelter, and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Center. The entire group discusses the proposed ideas and eventually 3-5 of the ideas are chosen to be implemented for the succeeding quarter. We aim for innovative events that will be actually impactful for the selected cause or local-nonprofit. In effect, Dollars 4 Change is run by its members and not just its executives, and we are able to serve causes that are truly meaningful to the members who work hard to see our organization succeed. Structure:
Dollars 4 Change does not concentrate the majority of authority among the executive team members like a number of other organizations do. Students who first join the organization are immediately given the opportunity to join in the event planning, coordination, and ex*****on of any event they choose for a particular quarter as a General Member. Each event requires an Event Manager, who is responsible for leading the event and assuring its success. This is where new members/general members can immediately have a leadership experience as long as they are truly passionate and dedicated to the cause. Usually the Event Manager is the member who the cause is close to/ came up with the idea of the event. The Executive Team doesn't manage the event but are instead there for the Event Manager as resources such as marketing the event, creating flyers, budgeting, and reserving OSU materials and rooms. General members along with executive members are expected to join at least one or two event committees and help with the development and hosting of an event. Each member's input in deciding on future events and nonprofits to support is accepted and considered equally with everyone else’s. There are a number of leadership roles, and new ones are created as the need for them arises. Dollars 4 Change places leadership within the hands of all of its members, and possesses an environment characterized by openness, respect, and a unified passion for serving the greater community.
