Gethsemane Food Pantry

Each month the children collect a "noisy offering" (coins) from the congregation. They then vote on what charitable use to make of the money collected. Recently, they decided to sponsor "Mini Birthday in a Box" kits for our Food Pantry children. The box contains a cake mix, a jar of frosting, candles, balloons, a can of Sprite (which can be used as a substitute for the egg and oil required by the cake mix), and a note. As you can imagine, this treat has been much appreciated by our customers!

Members of Gethsemane's Outreach Team distributed Easter bags to 72 of the Food Pantry's children last night. Of course, they were much appreciated! The bags were assembled by congregation children and other members during the Palm Sunday inter-generational event.

When Pantry volunteer Debbie threw herself a party for her special birthday, she asked that, instead of cards or gifts for herself, guests bring diapers for our food pantry. They certainly did! What a great idea!

Once again the congregation has come through with generous donations to the Gethsemane Food Pantry for "Souper Bowl Sunday"! Besides the food donations for Gethsemane's pantry, the stockpot on the table contains monetary donations for the LSS (Lutheran Social Services) food pantries. Additional food donations were left in the donation bin before and after the Sunday service. All are much appreciated!

Because of concern for the safety of customers and volunteers due to the extremely cold temperature forecast and the questionable conditions of Columbus side streets, the Gethsemane Food Pantry will be closed on Wednesday, January 28. Please pass along this information to others you know who come to our pantry. Stay safe and stay warm!
