Exchange Club of Columbus The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, nationally-based, service organization of people working toget

The Exchange Club of Columbus is an affiliate of the National Exchange Club. The original purpose of “Exchange” was to create grass roots organizations for the exchange of ideas leading to community involvement and enhancement. Locally, this objective has been refined over the years to specifically focus our efforts on community service to others, particularly support for our schools, public safet

y first-responders, child abuse prevention, neighborhood non-profits and projects that improve the Columbus community.

And that’s a wrap! Our year is over. We had a wonderful installation dinner last night and celebrated our Club. Our guest speaker was Rhonda Busby, GA District President, who reminded us that although we are a small Club we have big hearts and work hard - in fact we completed 29 projects this year. Congratulations to Jan Jones on her selection as our Club Member of the Year! 👏. We were also thrilled to have Fussell and Elise Hughes join us and Fussell recognized Betty Lindsay for her service as District Secretary for 21 years. Peggy Lambert treated us to a visit from her sweet great grand daughter, Annlee. We said thank you to Jennifer Allen for her service this year - she did it all! Rhonda then installed our new board and gave us directions for a successful new year. The final act of the evening was Jennifer passing the gavel to our new President, Brenda Clark. We are excited about the new year - come join us!

Our members who attended the Georgia District Convention came home energized from spending time with Exchangites across the state. They shared stories about what other clubs are doing and ideas we may be able to use.

Jennifer Allen brought back a certificate of appreciation for Peggy Lambert for her previous service as a District Director . 👏. Peggy serves us locally and throughout the state.

Jennifer also brought back a CAP donation check for the Children’s Tree House. The Children’s Tree house is a registered affiliate with the state and national Exchange Clubs. They perform an important function in our community. Club member Ari Kindrex accepted the donation.

This signifies the end of our admin year. It’s been a great year. Time to start planning for 2026-2027!

We celebrated our Military Appreciation lunch by inviting one of our favorite veterans and military historian, John House, to speak to us. He entertained and educated us with a fascinating presentation on the battle for Columbus and the origins of Coca Cola in 1865. His style and descriptions helped us visualize times in Phenix City and Columbus back in 1865. Thank you John for this history lesson! 🇺🇸

Our CAP committee, headed by Margarete Koepfer, works hard all year long to raise funds to give to those who help lead efforts to prevent child abuse. Margarete is not shy about asking for donations, nor is she shy about giving hugs! A our recent meeting her first hug was for our Mayor and the next hug was for Assistant Chief of Police Lance Deaton. Margarete presented him a supply of Time Out Teddy Bears for police officers to use when dealing with children.

Thanks to all of you who help us in our goal of making Columbus a better place to live. 🧸
