On October 15 we officially installed our Officers and Board of Directors for the 2026-27 Kiwanis fiscal year. Past Lt. Governor Jeff Blasdel is pictured with Immediate Past President Rick Siefert, President-Elect Dick Boyce, Vice President Bob Schoumacher, and President John Foster. We also installed Lynn Dole as Secretary and Don Abel as Treasurer and Directors Doug Stender, John Asel, David Walby, Mary Ellen Wyman, Jennifer Jaggers, and Steve Bayer.

At our meeting today, our newly elected Vice President, Bob Schoumacher spoke to our club about the Bartholomew Scholastic Chess Program which he started 2 years ago and has grown to include over 300 student participants.

Harry Crider, former Columbus East, IU, and NFL football player spoke to our Kiwanis Club today. He talked about his experience dealing with Type 1 diabetes and the impact that Riley Hospital had on him. He is also a past Key Club member and Riley Champion and he still works to support Riley Hospital.

Today we began our new Kiwanis fiscal year. Instead of the usual Presidential Plaque or gavel, Rick requested and received a dress shirt with our Meridian Kiwanis logo. He’s always all about promoting the Club. Thanks Rick for a great year of leading Meridian Kiwanis!

Jim Ogilvie and Gary Galbraith spoke to our club today about the Columbus Indiana Huey non profit organization. In addition to preserving the history of the Huey as a flying museum, they also provide flyovers for veterans funerals and other civic events. And they have also provided transportation and support services at natural disasters.

Thanks to all those who helped at the Moonlight Loop Bike Ride this past Saturday. In addition to Rick, Jane, Leslee, Lynn, Steve, Lori, Hannah, and John A. We also had Mike K., John F., and Mike B. (Not pictured). helping with this fun fundraiser for Columbus Animal Care Services.
