Dr. Kalpana Karunakaran, an Associate Professor at IIT Madras, specializes in gender and development, particularly Women’s Studies. Her research and works lie in the fields of gender, development, labour and social movements. Her books include “Women, Microfinance, and the State in Neo-liberal India” and a memoir, “Comrade Amma: Magal Parvaiyil Mythily Sivaraman”.

AID-India has been organising Covid19 camps in villages across .

Awareness campaigns were conducted in villages and vaccine camps set up in coordination with local government hospitals - about 2000 people have already been vaccinated in these camps!

Community based efforts which bring people into confidence and bring vaccines to them are crucial to beat the pandemic in India.
