Tomorrow begins Pride Month, and Sanctuary Night is ready to celebrate all month long. 🌈

To kick off the first week of June, we'll be honoring ROY G BIV by wearing a different color of the rainbow each day to celebrate Pride, community, belonging, and joy. β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œπŸŒˆ

We wanted to share the schedule a day early, so our community has time to prepare and celebrate alongside us!

We'd love for you to join in:
Wear the color of the day, snap a photo, and tag Sanctuary Night so we can celebrate together throughout the week. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

❀️ Monday β€” RED: Life
🧑 Tuesday β€” ORANGE: Healing
πŸ’› Wednesday β€” YELLOW: Sunlight & Joy
πŸ’š Thursday β€” GREEN: Growth
πŸ’™ Friday β€” BLUE: Harmony & Belonging
πŸ’œ Saturday β€” INDIGO: Peace & Reflection
🌈 Sunday β€” VIOLET: Spirit & Pride

At Sanctuary Night, we believe joy matters deeply. In spaces where people have experienced rejection, stigma, violence, or isolation, celebration becomes more than fun. It is care, connection, visibility, and healing.

We're grateful to celebrate Pride with our community this month. 🌈

A Week at Sanctuary Night πŸ’›

No two weeks at Sanctuary Night look exactly the same, but they all have one thing in common: community.

This week looked like...

πŸ” Karl, our Finance Director, stepping away from spreadsheets and onto the grill to help us celebrate National Hamburger Day.

πŸ“Έ Photo credit:

πŸŽ“ Mandi Pierson facilitating a staff training on dual relationships, an especially important topic when 93% of our team brings lived experience to the work we do.

🏠 A woman who has experienced homelessness for at least the last three years finally receiving the keys to her own place.

πŸ‘š A wonderful group of volunteers sorting and organizing the many clothing donations our community has provided over the past several weeks.

🌭 A Memorial Day cookout where Amber held down the grill and generously donated and prepared all of the sides.

πŸ’™ Your Choice Day, where volunteers from The Ohio State University and CompDrug joined us, and Columbus Public Health’s Mobile Unit provided contraception options and healthcare access to women in our community.

Some days look like trainings.
Some look like outreach.
Some look like paperwork, meal prep, healthcare access, or organizing donations.
And sometimes, they look like someone getting a set of keys and watching them walk into a new chapter of life.

This is what a week at Sanctuary Night can look like. A lot of moving pieces. A lot of people showing up. A lot of hope in action.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, partner, staff member, and community supporter who helps make weeks like this possible. πŸ’›

Three women.
Three different journeys.
One community that kept showing up. πŸ’›

Since the start of 2026, three women have successfully transitioned from clients at the Sanctuary Night drop-in center to individualized support services and now to alumni status.

Together, they received a combined 261.48 hours of support through:

*Drop-in center services
*Peer support
*Case management
*Counseling
*Community connection

Those hours represent so much more than appointments or services. They represent rides taken, meals shared, hard conversations, safety planning, laughter, setbacks, trust, accountability, healing, and people refusing to give up on themselves.

Today, these women are maintaining self-sufficiency and continuing forward in their healing journeys. We know healing is not linear, and alumni status does not mean someone no longer needs community. It means they built enough stability, support, and confidence to move into a different season of life.

This is why long-term, relationship-based support matters.

This is why consistency matters.
This is why Sanctuary Night exists. ✨

At Sanctuary Night, we believe celebration matters. Even the small things. πŸ”

So yes… today we're celebrating National Hamburger Day.

Because for many of the women who walk through our doors, life has often been about survival, crisis, trauma, or simply trying to make it through the day. Moments of joy, laughter, comfort, and community can feel rare. That's why we intentionally make space for them.

A warm meal shared around a table is never just a meal at Sanctuary Night. It's belonging. It's connection. It's a reminder that people deserve good things simply because they exist.

Joy is part of healing, too. 🀍

Women’s health includes mental health.

Stress. Trauma. Burnout. Anxiety. Depression. Survival mode.
These things impact the body just as much as physical health does.

But mental health support is not equally accessible to all women.

For many women, barriers like poverty, housing instability, stigma, addiction, violence, discrimination, or lack of insurance make it difficult to access consistent care and support.

At Sanctuary Night, we know healing doesn't happen because someone is told to β€œget help.”
Healing begins with safety, trust, dignity, and connection.

Sometimes mental health support looks like:
– a safe place to rest
– a conversation without judgment
– community
– being seen as human first
– someone remembering your name and story

Women deserve spaces where they can exist fully human while navigating difficult seasons of life.

In just the first quarter of 2026, our community showed up with 299 volunteer hours at Sanctuary Night.

That is 299 hours of meals served, conversations shared, supplies organized, spaces cleaned, clients supported, relationships built, and women reminded that they matter.

Volunteers help make Sanctuary Night what it is β€” a place where connection, dignity, and belonging are practiced daily. We are deeply grateful for every person who chooses to sit at our table with us.

Today, we celebrate Kristin and 11 years of healing, growth, and becoming. πŸ’›

Kristin is one of those people who brings steadiness into every room she walks into. As a clinical case manager, supervisor, and leadership presence at Sanctuary Night, she consistently shows up for clients and staff with compassion, wisdom, and grace. The way she remains level-headed, dependable, and deeply caring does not go unnoticed.

What makes Kristin even more special is not just the work she does now, but everything she has overcome to get here. Her story is one of healing and resilience. We are endlessly grateful that she was able to heal and become everything she wants to be.

She is a soon-to-be social worker, trusted leader, advocate, and safe place for so many. We are so proud of you, Kristin.

11 years is no small thing. Thank you for letting your life become proof that healing is possible. ✨

Accessing healthcare isn’t the same for everyone.

Women are more likely to have their pain dismissed.
More likely to be misdiagnosed.
More likely to delay care because of cost, caregiving responsibilities, or past negative experiences.

And the gap doesn’t stop there.

When you add layers like race, income, housing instability, or lived experience in the s*x trade, those barriers multiply.

What might be a routine appointment for one person can be:
– hours of transportation planning
– fear of stigma or judgment
– navigating systems that weren't built with you in mind
– choosing between basic needs and medical care

At Sanctuary Night, we see this every day.

That's why women's health has to include access, trust, and dignity. Not just services.

If you want to learn more about disparities in women's healthcare, this is a great place to start:
πŸ”— https://www.kff.org/womens-health-policy/

Women's health is not one-size-fits-all.
And equitable care starts with understanding that.

At Sanctuary Night, we believe every person deserves safety, dignity, belonging, and the freedom to exist fully as themselves.

Many of the women we serve have experienced rejection, violence, discrimination, and barriers to care simply because of who they are. We know that healing cannot happen without spaces where people are seen, respected, and affirmed.

Today, and every day, we stand against hate in all forms.

We stand for community.
We stand for autonomy.
We stand for people being able to live openly and safely without fear.

To our LGBTQ+ community members:
You belong. Your life matters. Your identity is not something to survive, but rather something worthy of celebration, care, and protection.

And to our broader community: affirmation saves lives. Compassion matters. The way we speak about and show up for one another matters.

May we continue building a world where everyone has a seat at the table. πŸ’›
