Dewitt has been wrongly incarcerated for 27 years for a crime in which no physical evidence or eyewitness testimony has ever linked him to the scene. Dewitt was convicted along with two other men for the murder of an innocent bystander who was killed in a drive-by shooting. Both of the other men have confessed to their roles in the crime, attest that Dewitt was not involved, and they have been out of prison for years while Dewitt remains incarcerated.

The Miles For Justice campaign has run a 5K every day in silent protest for more than 800 consecutive days and pledged to run each day until Dewitt is set free. Our supporters have sent over 1,000 letters to Ohio officials on Dewitt’s behalf.

We hit another huge milestone of 1,000 letters sent! Truly, thank you for all of the support. It is inspiring and motivating to see how many people have become involved in this campaign. We need you to keep applying pressure by sending letters and sharing with your communities. The overwhelming majority of public officials have been indifferent to Dewitt’s due process rights being violated. Though he was due a parole hearing more than 10 years ago, his first parole hearing is finally scheduled for August. Our focus will be shifting to the parole board to give Dewitt the best chance of being released. We will keep you updated with how you can help.
