The German Village Art League is pleased to announce their first art exhibition in 2020 “New Year, New Art”, which is an all member exhibition of GVAL member artists. The opening of the exhibition will be on January 8 – January 31, 2020, 10:00am – 9:00pm.

Visual Artist Requirements:
Drop Off Date and Time: Tuesday, January 7, 2020, 4pm-6pm
Drop off and Pick up Location: Grandview Heights Public Library located at 1685 West First Avenue
Columbus, OH 43212

Pick up Date and Time: Friday, January 31, 2020, 5:00pm-7:00pm.

All questions should be sent to [email protected] *If you are unable to pick up your artwork at the date and time, please notify GVAL to make alternative arrangements for pickup. German Village Art League and the Grandview Heights Public Library are not responsible for storage and delivery of your work.

All artwork MUST be delivered between 4:00pm - 6:00pm on Tuesday, January 7.

Artwork Submissions
GVAL offers its members the opportunity to submit 1-2 images that describe their personal artistic language.
Visual Artwork Submission Guidelines
Visual Entries Due Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 10:00pm.

1. Each artist may submit 1-2 entries as.jpeg files
2. Title each jpeg "lastname1.jpeg"
Ex:"ross1.jpeg, ross2.jpeg”
3. Each submission should be in .jpeg format and no larger than 5"x7" 200ppi; and should include title and price (Grandview Library takes 40% commission of sales during the exhibition – so price accordingly).
4. Include: Full Name, email address and phone number in the email submission. Submit all files to [email protected].
5. Each artist submitting must be a 2020 German Village Art League Member Artist.

If you are not a GVAL member and would like to join, go to our website at https://germanvillageartleague.webs.com/join-gval and pay through PayPal or bring a check for 2020 membership for $25.00 when you drop off your work.

2019 Sole Celebration Fashion Show
We are looking for local artists to help create a uniquely presented fashion show for our
annual fundraising event called the Sole Celebration. This event hosts over 600+
attendees and provides an excellent opportunity to have YOUR art displayed and
shown to so many people in Central Ohio.
The vision for the event is to incorporate (10) local artists who can provide their art on
white clothing. This can be represented in several ways . . . .
● Paint on the clothing
● Silkscreen an image on the clothing
● Embroider the clothing
● Project a digital image on the clothing
● Additional Ideas you may present to us
All artists will be listed on . . . .
● The digital presentation at the event.
● The runway screen as artists looks are coming down the runway
● Our Social Media
● Our Website
● The printed event program
What artists will receive . . .
● Recognition by event emcee
● (2) Tickets to the 2019 Sole Celebration
● Food and beverage for the evening
The 11th Annual Sole Celebration event will take place on Thursday May 16, 2019 at
the Signature Airplane Hangar. We ask that you . . . .
● Present a portfolio of current art styles
● Create 1-3) looks to come down our runway
○ Looks could be male and/or female
○ Looks can be represented on jeans, pants, tee shirts, tanks, dresses,
skirts, hats and jackets.
● Work in tandem with our Fashion Committee Chair’s to match you with the
proper look for each model.
● Work with the models and determine proper “canvas” for each look.
● Have all looks runway ready by May 1, 2019
● Attend the event and bring business cards to have available for guests who are
interested in the artist work.

Background of In Christy’s Shoes
We are a 100% volunteer organization that was born out of tragedy almost 12 years ago
when Christy Levy Peters (identical twin sister to our Executive Director Katrina Levy
Zidel) passed away from terminal brain cancer. Christy left us with her innate ability to
connect with anyone and lend a helping hand wherever it is needed. We honor her
legacy by raising awareness and funds which support local nonprofits in Central Ohio
and in the DMV area who assist women in challenging circumstances, specifically:
○ Unemployment
○ Domestic Abuse
○ Substance Abuse
○ Human Trafficking
○ Homelessness
○ Brain Cancer
To date, we have raised over $1,000,000 since inception, collected over 9,500 pairs of
shoes and helped over 5,000 women. We do this event in Columbus, Ohio and
Arlington, Virginia. All proceeds raised will go back into the community to support the
areas listed above.
Please consider giving of yourself and your time by helping us execute a one of a
kind fashion show.

Call to Greater Cincinnati Artists

1) “SOS ART 2019”, a group art show and event of sociopolitical expressions for peace and justice, in its 17th consecutive year, will take place at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, May 31-June 9, 2019.

2) Greater Cincinnati Artists of all expressions (visual, verbal, musical, cinematographic, etc.) are invited to participate.

3) An artist submission form geared to the visual art component of the event is available to be downloaded at the sos art website: sosartcincinnati.com where can also be consulted, under "publications" and for a clearer idea of the event, pdfs of previous sos art books documenting the event.
Artists of other expressions, please submit your proposal by an e mail return message.

4) Deadline for receipt of application is May 12, 2019.

5) All submissions will be considered and all works will be included provided they adhere to the theme of the show, are inclusive and space permits.
