Street Speech

Street Speech Street Speech is a monthly social justice newspaper, published by the Columbus Coalition for the Homeless since March 2008.

Like other papers in the international street newspaper movement, Street Speech empowers low-income individuals. Street Speech encourages skill development, social interaction, and economic opportunity by employing low-income individuals as vendors for our paper. After completing a brief training, vendors buy the paper from the Coalition for twenty-five cents and sell it for one dollar to the down

town community, allowing many vendors an opportunity to earn some extra income and move toward self-sufficiency. In its first 16 months, Street Speech put more than $33,000 into the pockets of those who needed the money to meet their basic needs.

The Street Speech paper can be bought in the downtown Columbus area for a contribution of at least $1 from one of our vendors. You will be supporting their initiative and learning about their lives.
