Hi, I’m Mae, and although I was hesitant to come to Zimbabwe, this ended up being one of the most life-changing experiences. I stepped outside of my comfort zone, from trying new foods, helping slaughter a goat, dancing at traditional dinners, and seeing elephants just feet away on a safari. My favorite part, though, was spending time with the kids at the Sandra Jones Center. I got swarmed with hugs, learned how to play netball with the older girls, and experienced a shy girl slowly open up to me. I’m so grateful to have been apart of the 2026 Trips with Purpose, and I would like to thank Coach T (Mr. Tomu/King Tomu), Gogo, Pride, and my parents for making this trip possible. ❤️🇿🇼

Hello, I’m Ben and I went on the 2026 Zimbabwe Trips with Purpose. On this trip I learned things that will carry with me for many years to come. I got to see the different culture here, learn about the school systems, and explore different markets, go on safaris, visit Hwange National Park, and see the Natural Wonder of the World, Victoria Falls. One of the things that I learned is the valuable lesson of gratitude. After reflecting on the trip I would say I’m grateful for the the opportunity to come to Zimbabwe, all of wildlife here, the people I met, the things that I have back home, but most importantly our driver Pride, Gogo for having us stay at her house, and coach T (Mr. Tomu/King Tomu) for taking us here. Overall this was a great trip and I will cherish it for the rest of my life! 🇿🇼👍✌️😄

Hi I’m Evan. This trip has really changed my life. It’s been so fun meeting new people. I loved playing soccer and netball with the kids at the orphanage, and teaching them how to play chess. I’ve also enjoyed hanging out and strengthening old friendships. It’s been incredible to share all these great times with the people I’m surrounded by. Finally I wanna thank Coach T, Pride, and Gogo for being great hosts and getting us around safely.

Hi, I’m Abbott. I think what challenged me most on this trip was making friends. Through getting to know my fellow travelers and the kids at the orphanage, I learned the importance of building meaningful connections. I especially saw this through all the relationships Coach T had developed over the years with merchants, restaurant owners, teachers, and so many others. Those connections showed me how much a positive relationship can impact both your own life and the lives of others. I would like to thank the MyMotherland organization and Gogo, for housing, my fellow travelers, TT and Taffie, and a huge thanks to Coach T.

This trip was a great opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone. Especially when I participated in slaughtering a goat in the back yard and eating worms on multiple occasions. I met so many people, learned so many things about serving others, gratitude, and seeing joy through a different perspective. It was truly an experience I will never forget. I’m so thankful for everyone who made this trip possible and for the memories and lessons I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Gogo, King Tomu and our bus driver Pride. Love you Pride, love you T brothers. ❤️

Today was another unforgettable day of serving and learning at the Sandra Jones Centre. We spent the day cleaning the pig pens, feeding the pigs, helping with weeding, and spending time with our new friends. We also had the opportunity to witness a goat being slaughtered, which gave our team a unique look at local culture and how food is prepared in the community.

Every experience continues to teach us the value of service, hard work, and building meaningful relationships. We are so grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received.

On Monday, we’ll be back teaching computer skills and continuing to serve the community. We can’t wait to share more with you!
