Casa David Harms

Casa David Harms We provide shelter for family members of hospitalized patients in Honduras and Guatemala. They are greatly loved in Tegucigalpa and throughout the country.

Casa David began in the heart of God many years ago when we (Howie and Marvina Hooper) served as IMB, SBC missionaries to university students in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It was there that we witnessed first hand the deplorable conditions that people endured as they waited for their loved ones to be treated at the public hospitals. People coming long distances from their villages, usually by bus, spe

nt days and often even weeks, at the hospital. These people were destitute with no means of finding a place to rest or food to eat. The idea of Casa David was born as a direct result of seeing that great need among those people. After much prayer and what we believe to be the leading of the LORD, contact was made with these former university students and they agreed that something should be done to help alleviate this need and more importantly to make opportunities to share Christ with these people. This summer, an organization was begun by many of these students in Honduras to open a shelter. The organization was named Casa David, named for a former IMB missionary Dr. David Harms. David and his wife Joyce, faithfully served the beautiful people of Honduras for over 30 years. Believing that we are directly involved with Kingdom work, it is our prayer that many will come to know the Lord Jesus as a result of this ministry and that this ministry will have a direct impact not only on this generation but on the generations to come. It is our desire to earn the right to share the Good News of Christ as we provide a safe haven with food and a warm bed.

Albita was born prematurely and has a medical condition that requires ongoing care. She and her mom, Maity, traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, so she could receive the medical care she needs.

While they’re far from home, Casa David provides them with a safe place to stay, meals, and a place to rest.

Here's a question worth asking today:

"Does my employer match charitable donations?"

Many companies do—but many employees never take advantage of the opportunity.

A quick conversation with your HR department could double your support of Casa David and help even more families find a place to stay while receiving medical care. 🙏❤

Lucía, Eyli, and Yadira came to Casa David Tegucigalpa from different places, but they shared something in common: each had a loved one hospitalized far from home.

They came looking for a place to sleep. Here, they also found a table to gather around, people who understood what they were going through, and a friendship that made those difficult days a little easier.

This is Casa David, too ☺

🙌Your employer could double your gift to Casa David.

Many companies match charitable donations made by their employees—often dollar for dollar.
That means twice the impact for families who need a place to stay while receiving medical care.

👉Check with your HR department to see if your company offers a matching gift program.
