What a GREAT night! It was so much fun seeing all of our community kids dressed up, smiling, and having a good time celebrating Halloween! πŸŽƒ

A HUGE thank-you to our Columbus Youth Sports Board members who helped make this happen and volunteered their time serving hot dogs. Thank you to my parents and our families for opening up their home, helping with the cooking and serving, and allowing us to bring this tradition to the community.

We also want to thank everyone who donated money, supplies, and other items to help make the evening possible. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

As we shared in our earlier post, tonight was done in memory of our dear friend and longtime Youth Sports supporter, Randy Phillips. We hope we made you proud, Randall. πŸ’š

From all of us on the Columbus Youth Sports Board, THANK YOU for helping us make this such a special night!

One community, one team, making a difference for our kids!

🌭HAPPY HOT DOG HALLOWEEN!!🌭

πŸ‘» Columbus Youth Sports is keeping a great tradition going! πŸ‘»

On Halloween night, Saturday, October 31st, from 5:00–7:00 PM, Columbus Youth Sports will be serving FREE hot dogs to trick-or-treaters and their parents at the Salazar residence, 1129 Oakview Dr., just a block from the school!

The Phillips family, who were avid supporters of Columbus Youth Sports, started this wonderful tradition. Although the family has since moved out of Columbus Junction, with their permission, we felt it was important to keep this tradition going in our community in memory of Randy.πŸ’š

We love seeing traditions like this continue to bring our community together, and we’re honored to keep Randy’s memory alive while giving our local families one less thing to worry about on Halloween night!

So, make sure you stop by, grab a hot dog, and enjoy some supper before heading home to let the kids dig into all that Halloween candy! 🍬🍫

‼️

New board members are needed by January 1, 2027 for youth sports to continue. The current board is ready to step away as most of their own kids are either out of youth sports already or will be next year. We will still be around to answer questions and help, but need to step off board duties. As explained before in other posts, if there is no youth sports board, there is NO youth sports. None of the sports played in preschool-6th grade are affiliated with the Columbus school district at all. They are all fully ran by the youth sports volunteer and non-profit organization.

Yes, we understand committing to the board is a lot to take over. That's why we ask continuously for as much help as possible. The more people that volunteer to help, means less work load per person. The board/volunteers can be run as the board sees fit. There could be certain people assigned to only one or two sports instead of everyone to all of them, etc. Lots of options but it takes volunteers and help. To stay a 501c3 non-profit there does need to be appointed board members: President, Vice President, Treasurer, & Secretary.

Again, we are more than willing to help out with how we have done things recently and what all needs done with each sport and explain the ropes.

Please contact any of the current board members for questions or interest in joining. Shannon Salazar, Todd Salazar, Sammi Harris or Ali Jay.
