Fundraising underway for new food bank in Columbus Grove

COLUMBUS GROVE — A fundraising drive will formally be kicked off soon seeking the public’s help in constructing a new facility to house the Lord’s Pantry food bank.
Doug Rode, director of the food bank, said a building at 205 E. Sycamore St. in Columbus Grove that formerly housed the food bank has been razed to make way for a new structure.
The food pantry is owned by the Community Council of Churches, comprised of St Anthony’s of Padua Church, Emmanuel Church, Columbus Grove Christian Church, Church of the Good Shepherd, St. John’s Community Church and Vaughnsville Community Church.
Rode envisioned construction of a new building of approximately 1,000 square feet. Half the building would house the Lord’s Pantry food bank, which Rode said currently assists 40-plus families each month with nutrition assistance. The remaining square footage would be used for what Rode said could be a multi-use community center.
Contractors have been selected for the construction of the new facility, and all are from Putnam County. Rode said individuals or businesses who would like to contribute to the project may do so by sending a check to P.O. Box 22, Columbus Grove, 45830, or by stopping with a check at Union Bank in the village.

Exciting news Columbus Grove!

The original Lord’s Pantry building is coming down in the next coming weeks, making way for a brand new space to better serve our community. Construction on the new Lord’s Pantry will begin shortly after.

We also want to give a huge thank you to the Columbus Grove Track team for helping us move into our temporary location at 112 East Sycamore. All your hard work and support mean so much to us!
