⭐🎭Missing theatre like we are? Sign up for our summer camp, where we will perform Disney's Dare to Dream Jr.! 🎭 ⭐

Come join Shelby County Arts Council theatre program, The Theatre Corner, in their 2026 Theatre Summer Camp! This year, campers will perform in Dare to Dream JR., a Disney musical r***e. Campers have a chance to step their toes into the magical world of musical theatre in this Summer camp designed to cater to theatre beginners and theatre veterans. In addition to the chance to be on stage, this Summer camp will allow campers to build their own props, play theatre games, or learn how to stage manage backstage.

The camp will be:
Monday-Friday, June 1st-5th (9 AM-2 PM)
Monday-Thursday, June 8th-11th (9 AM- 2 PM)
Friday June 12th (Call time 12 pm, with two performances at 2 PM and 5 PM)
*There will be two performances on Friday, June 12th at 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Campers MUST stay after the last performance for strike (cleaning up the sets, props, and the theatre).

Camp cost:
$400
Includes camp t-shirt, script, and dinner June 12th.
Limited scholarships available upon request.

Show synopsis:
Disney’s Dare to Dream JR. is a 60-minute musical r***e that follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible. Drawing from a century of beloved Disney films, Dare to Dream JR. features songs appearing for the first time ever in a Disney stage musical, including fan-favorites from The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, and Frozen II. This musical r***e is a thrilling mix of contemporary songs, timeless classics, and brand-new medleys that are sure to surprise and delight Disney lovers of all ages.

🐘🎭Countdown to Seussical Jr. - the rest of the crew!🐘🎭

Lena Rios is a recent graduate of the University of Montevallo. She received her Bachelors of Science in Theatre May of 2025. Lena has been a part of many productions, such as The Addams Family Jr, James and the Giant Peach Jr, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and many more. She has held various roles in these productions such as technical work, set work, stage managing, and even directing.
In her free time she enjoys drawing, reading, hiking, playing with her cats Lester and Soot Sprite, and playing Just Dance (where she is currently a level 100+). Ms. Lena's favorite thing about theatre is seeing the final product on stage and playing games with her students!

Reagan Parrott is a recent graduate of the University of Montevallo. She loves all things theatre, but you’ll mostly find her in the shop creating props. Her previous shows include Little Shop of Horrors, The Glass Menagerie, Cabaret, Punk Rock Girl, Pippin, as well as many others. She is so thankful for the opportunity to work with the Shelby County Arts Council, and she hopes you enjoy the show as much as she has enjoyed working on it!

Ruth Turner is a junior in high school and is thrilled to be part of this productions crew. She has a deep love for theatre and has been involved both onstage and behind the scenes, including acting, assistant directing, music directing, and choreographing for children’s productions in the past. Ruth has loved being the choreographer for Seussical Jr. and can't wait for summer camp! When she’s not performing, Ruth enjoys photography, singing everything from musicals to Christian in the car, and volunteering in her community. She hopes to pursue a future in theatre and working with children, possibly as a director or performer. Ruth would like to thank her family and friends for their constant support and encouragement.

DT plays the Head Wickersham Brother. You may have seen DT in other shows, such as Matilda Jr., Lion King Jr., Frozen Jr., and School House Rock Live Jr. When DT is at home, he likes to play video games. DT’s favorite thing about theatre is that he gets time away from his three sisters!

Lilla is cast as Gertrude McFuzz. This is Lilla's debut in theatre. When Lilla is at home she likes to play games on her iPad with friends, draw, crochet and is currently the pitcher for her 10U softball team. Lilla’s favorite thing about theater is all of it. She has had so much fun practicing her songs and meeting like-minded friends

Andrew is cast as Mr. Mayor. Andrew made his first appearance in theatre in last Spring’s Improv class, where he excelled! When Andrew is at home, he enjoys playing with his sister. Andrew couldn’t choose what his favorite thing about theatre is, so he chose everything!

🐘🎭Countdown to Seussical Jr. - Meet our crew!🐘🎭

Nyx is a freshman in the BFA Theatre Design/Tech Major and Arts Administration Minor at the University of Montevallo. They often work in costumes and makeup, but also have a passion for stage management. Their recent credits include: Makeup Design Assistant for American Idiot, Assistant Head of Wardrobe for Romeo and Juliet, Light Board operator for Godspell, Costume Design Assistant for Alice by Heart at The University of Montevallo, and Assistant Stage Manager for Mamma Mia at Sylacauga High School.

Ruby is a freshman in the BFA Theatre Design/Tech Major at the University of Montevallo. She is typically found Stage Managing around her hometown, but her favorite credits include: Stage Manager for Little Shop of Horrors with Grissom, Last Minute Swing for The Play That Goes Wrong with Renegade PTC, Student Director for Rapunzel and the Beanstalk with FPCTA, Assistant Stage Manager for Romeo & Juliet at the University of Montevallo, and Assistant Technical Director for Charlotte's Web with AAA.
